Guy answered my buy request, said he wants $1000. Truly crazy for this domain, and I know for a fact this made up word is worthless because when typing it into google nothing comes up. Now I have to go for some alternative because I have already ordered my first product.

I do not want to disclose the domain. But the email addy that I received the reply from was @pgsl.com

Okay the guy is a domain parker so this is what he is doing for earnings....He probably has a few hundred domains and every now and again he gets a bite......In this instance its you !

If I was in his situation I would do the same thing, but I would be aware that the domain has little value unless its sold to the right person so I wouldnt be turning down profit.

I dont know how much info you have disclosed so far but if you have only made a request then I would go back to him with

You may want to go in higher or lower thats up to you but in a negotiation its easy to go up impossible to go down

Bare in mind the guy already knows somebody wants his domain hes not about to just hand it over. But you've offered him real money and explained you have options

If I was him I would try my best to put together a deal with you.

As I said earlier in the thread if this is an actual business then the domain is of high value to you...Lets be honest you could spend $200-$300 on printer cartidges in the big picture this is a small outlay.

If you are succesful in getting it you should consider getting the .net .info etc

As much as hate over spending in a domain. This is one of the scenarios were I would consider paying $100 to buy the domain since it represents the name of the product I planning to sell. Product branding.......

If you think its worth $100 then buy it. If not then why not try an alternative like .net or .org?

So far this is what I got as an answer when I asked him why is the domain being sold at such a high premium.

Some positive factors in the favor of this domain name:
-.COM extension (best extension in my opinion)
-short (only 5 letters)
-memorable
-could be "brandable" depending on type of service or product
-"aged" at over 5 years
-"e" prefix (some people search for names starting with "e" or "i" -- this can be desired or not -- depends on each individual)

end of story is that he replied to my final offer saying that he will pass and I registered e-xxxx.com instead of exxxx.com

Also you have to think, How strong is my brand? If its not that strong don't buy. I bought my domain off a guy for 350 USD but my lifetime profit is much higher
