Climbing the SERP, removing backlinks

My money site is finally climbing the SERP and hopefully, will get at the same level before I did a HUGE mistakes few months ago: Getting some social backlinks to it, about 120-125 of them during a couple of weeks.
I had a lots of others links and since a while, I removing all of them.
It begins to pay. I finally see some SERP movement going up...finally...
When I think about all those quality links I was working on, what a waste of time.

Yes, also social bookmarking.
Those links were only quality links, no SB BS (I mean no scrapebox bullshit) or other BS.
So, I can go there and ask, except a few I can do myself...

I had a few relevant high PR blog comments and a few relevant to my field links exchanges
The less backlinks I have, the higher in SERP...

Diversity is the key to link building. There are no good/bad links, you just have to have a well-mixed profile.

I had 526 quality links from 457 sites. When I saw it diving from #9 to ##38. I'm down to 197 links and back to #18 for a specific very competitive 4 words keyphrase...

I dont think, social bookmarking links bring negative impact. This is nice to see that after you removing backlinks, your serp is going up. What a great impact
