What are the problems in doing IM full time ?

We all know that doing Internet marketing full time is associated with a number of benefits like:

1)You choose your working hours.
2)You have more freedom.
3)You can earn more in comparison to a 9-5 job and much more.

But what do you think about the problems associated with doing IM full time ? I will start with one point. In my opinion, it is hard to convince the parents of a working girl for an arranged marriage if you are into IM full time (or you do not have a real job). Let us discuss more shortcomings.

You can become more unsociable from spending long hours on your computer! Also the threat of future google penguin / panda updates leaving you financially crippled if seo is your game

You are right, uncertainty is also a major risk associated with this IM thing.
 
1) Your financial situation chooses your working hours

2) Your financial situation chooses your 'freedom'

3) Your smartness decides whether you'll earn that much or not.

At least in the offline world, you have formal education, which hows you some direction, regardless whether it's useful or not.

Here, you are the one choosing your direction. You are just betting your time and efforts on something you are believing. It may or may not turn into something you've wanted. Most of the 'formal education' in online world is guru BS.

If you understand this logically, you'll progress well.

For me, I am still a full time university student :)

(1) When you do IM you can find yourself engaging in excessive alcohol/drug use.

(2) When you engage in excessive alcohol/drug use you find yourself forgetting to shower for days at a time and you're drunk.

(3) When you smell so bad from forgetting to shower and being drunk your wife/GF won't get near you.

(4) When your wife/GF won't get near you, you call in hookers.

(5) When you call in hookers, you get a Mickey dropped into your drink by the hooker.

(6) When you get a Mickey dropped into your drink the hooker steals your wallet and pants.

(7) When your wallet and pants are stolen you get arrested for loitering and indecent exposure,

Don't get arrested for loitering and indecent exposure. Get a real job! ;)

Just kidding!

Tell them that you do computer programming and that it is a boring job but you make a lot of money at it!

They would like to visit their future son in law office before giving their daughter to me. BTW, it is just a prediction based on what I observed in the society. I do not have any plans to get married for 3-4 years.
 
Biggest pitfall is its unstable i.e SEO and Google... also many of the methods here are -
"spam the shit out of twitter and earn $x,xxx"

Well twitter, facebook and Google read this, and you quickly see your money vanish.

So many IM'ers get caught up in that short term bull crap and hype, and bank everything on those silly methods that all get burned out, I wish people would steer clear of that and only do them for a bit of extra traffic or fun.

For me the biggest disadvantage is the social aspect. I've noticed myself avoiding people alot now and nobody understands what I do for a living, so thats the only bad thing for me.

Dis problem is for asians only
In Foreign,they dont consider these things before marriage.
Even a part time job is good for them,[dignity of labor ]

You will not be able to get an educated working girl just because you earn your income online, isn't it a limitation ?
 
As others have mentioned your income stream can be very unsteady and you always have to be selling, ABC as they say. Also, you can't rest for too long because the environment is always changing. You also have to be very disciplined in terms of executing your marketing plans and you're often working alone.

Being somewhat culturally literate I do understand the importance of arranged marriages in your part of the world. Here's what you can do:

Just go to a few websites and "View Source". Copy and paste the code you see into a Notepad file. Name the Notepad file something like "Internet Project 1" and so on for a few more. When they come to vist, open the Notepad files and start "editing". Unless they are very computer literate they will have no idea what you are doing but what you will be doing will sure look good to them! :)

Then tell them that it is also your job to upload the edited codes to the various websites. They will nod their heads, smile and be happy.............
