I just want all BHW members to check out these important links I've stumbled across about killing google penguin.

First there's the petition:

Take a quick second to sign it!

Code:
http://www.change.org/petitions/google-please-kill-your-penguin-update-l#

MORE IMPORTANT THEN THE PETITION:

If you read the first comment under the petition you'll see the guy's post about how google may be in the process of or will potentially be investigated by the FTC. What he says about complaining IN BULK is spot on, if large numbers of people file complaints specifically about the penguin update there's a good chance that google will be investigated for it.

So take a few minutes and fill one out. You don't have to enter your full name or address (it even says add as much information as you're comfortable with), and be sure to list the PENGUIN update as your reason for the complaint in the additional info section. You could also mention the fact that google has a clear monopoly on internet search (which they do). What I put (which is the truth) is that many people's honest and legit web sites were unfairly penalized so that google can promote their own adwords and other advertising schemes. Here's the link:

Code:
https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

For the section where you enter the company info, I've done a search and found google's address for you:

Google, Inc.
1600 Amphitheatre Parkway
Mountain View
CA 94043

I hope with large numbers we can undo google's recent appalling changes that effect us all.

just signed the petition. I hope everyone takes the effort to sign up.

Good idea. Let's see if anything goes through.

I highly doubt this online petition will cause Google do to anything, especially since the overwhelming majority of petition signatures will come from people who employ black hat techniques.

But the FTC doesn't know we all use black hat techniques.

this won`t work out - even if it`s a good thing to see people raising their voices....
...you aren`t forced to use google. theres others around.
they will not care if it affects your buisness - as theres plenty of buisness for them. with or without you.

this would be the same as having a petition and trying to force a guy with a factory to work as the public wants him to run his buisness.
and: google isn`t a government either.

they just do what you do within your buisness also...

You know, google panda/ penguin isn't necessarily a bad thing, just be smarter with your seo work and use it to your advantage. Your petition will never go through.

Haha nice one, signed! Hopefully G doesn't get the details :D

It's their business and they can do what they think is the best for them. They can alway say that they are trying to make search better and algo updates cannot satisfy everyone. We've seen crapy sites ranking after recent updates and we know they have had to manually correct many searches, but I doubt this petition can have any effect.

Google Panda is simply a quality control effort to curtail the litany of trash websites that exist solely to rank high. If you actually provide value in terms of content, etc. this should be a non-issue.

New account, your 1st post and you defend Google?

Spoken like a Google employee.

Oh no! I've been doxed...:pop2:

I understand you're a microcephalic with an IQ of 80, but what I stated was not a defense of Google; but rather a common sense articulation of the situation. It's their job as a search engine to ensure the quality of the results, which is what they are doing.

Do I like it? Of course not. But, if you don't roll with the current you drown.

Did you read the MORE IMPORTANT THEN THE PETITION part? Anti-trust lawsuits and monopolies ARE a big deal, regardless of BH techniques or not. Should there be ONE supermarket, ONE gas station or ONE news channel? And anyone who says "Just go use bing.", I would advise them to "Just go and rank only in bing" and then hand them some change when they're panhandling for it later.

Really? My "crappy site" is over 12 years old, and uses no blackhat methods, and is an industry leader in it's field. Like many others it has disappeared from it's main search term, only to be replaced by sites with 200 words, obviously hidden links / text and LITERALLY 2 backlinks. Is that the QUALITY you want when you search for something?

This has also negatively affected many other white hat sites, who's owners depend on their businesses to feed their families. Why don't you scroll down the petition page and read some of the comments. Or real the post AND the comments here:

In short, the penguin update not only isn't helping anybody, or "filtering out crappy sites", it's hurting good, quality web sites (That you would want to find when searching) and trying to (Illegally) promote google's OWN advertising platforms. If you like penguin, I know a guy with a funny mustache who was very active in German politics a few years ago that you would love, I hope you have blonde hair and blue eyes though.

Excuse my drunken grammar, but I done been signed that! Fuck Google. You know, if they were at least somewhat fucking transparent, I wouldn't be so annoyed. Like IDK why DF some my sites are doing bad. Instead of being assholes, why not tell me EXACTLY what it is you find unappealing about my websites. LIST THEM OUT. That way I'll fucking learn. Instead I'm playing this fucking guessing game and have no idea and am meantime struggling financially and contemplating moving back in with my folks.

GRR. I hate corporations and rich people.
