Own private blog network worth the costs?

Would it be worth the money to start a few private blogs on separate domains and hosting accounts just to get one site ranked highly for its keywords? What's the best way to go about this? How would you link back to your money site from such a blog network without making it look "fake".

YOu woul need various hosting accounts(I would not use seo hosting)

build links to those domains

It depends on what you are using it for. If you are using it to resell service the startup costs will be very costly. If you are going to rank your personal sites then grabbing some high pr domains from godaddy auction will save you some cash.

If you can make a good network. Then it is definitely worth it. There are a few BHW members that have their own networks and they do really well.

You could definitely subsidize the costs by selling "guest" posts or even just links. You don't have to start out huge, if you already have some sites that you want to get to rank higher, buy a similar site or 2 that has some age & pr to it then add your links there. Smaller investment & you'd likely be able to just turn around and sell off the sites for what you paid maybe end up taking a small loss.

I was just thinking of making a small network which would only be for personal use, no selling of links, no nothing. I also thought of making such networks for each individual client site, but I don't think this would be worth it. For example, if I had a client in the "dog training" niche, I would make a network of sites about dogs and dog training, I would then use these to boost the client's main site. But I don't think this would be worth the money because in order to not make it look fake I'd probably only be able to link once and for one keyword only. Let's say I have 10 sites in this network, for one keyword it may work and may bring some good rankings but not sure if this would be worth the money and the work involved, for a personal project it probably would but when it comes to clients, I'm not sure. Anyone with any experience?

I like the idea of "guest" posts, but what would be the best way to go around that while at the same time not leaving any tracks of selling guest posts which could be seen as selling links in the eyes of G?

I think selling guest posts if fine as long as you make sure sites linked to are of good quality and you limit them to a small part of your network. Let's say you have 30 blogs, then don't sell more than 10 items to same buyer. Make guest posts expensive to drive away low quality customers.

The BHW private blog networks are getting deindexed because they are on BHW selling links. Google is deep in our pussies grinding away and no one realizes it. If you do set up a private blog network dont tell anyone. Keep it quiet and dont come on here or anywhere else and sell links.

I will suggest you to buy blogpost/link from already develop sites rather than build a big network of own blog. It will be much cost for you to build and manage blog network.

Wrong, there are a host of very reliable and "free" ways to rank out there. Blog networks are the lazy way to go about it (and yes, I have my own network).
Network links are horrible for ranking sites without fantastic foundations. Likewise, they have a "limit" of usefulness.
They're probably very useful for very easy terms, but once you get into things that actually take some thought to build links to, blog networks are just 1 piece of a complex puzzle.

I regret building my network of around 120 sites, as I simply do not get the results I want usually and it was QUITE expensive.

This is what separates the sheeps from the goats. Most people will not go to all the trouble of setting up a network specific to a niche. Thats a shame really because thats the best link you'll ever get provided its done properly, guaranteed.

It's a shame that you'd need thousands of these "best links" to make a dent in some markets.
