Did i pay too much?

Hello everybody,

A few months ago I've started to learn about SEO and earning money on the web. I'm now getting something about 5 dollar a day via affiliate and Adsense, and I want to grow.

For a website I wanted to have a high PR. Just to experiment, and what it would do with my results.

I've paid someone to get me a high PR (6), and to get high organic search results on Google.

He said he would realize this for me between 6-12 months.

I have paid him 1000 dollar. But I'm starting to think that is too much.

Is that true? Did I paid him too much?

Not exactly true...if you want a high pr site and the guy delivers then what's a grand ? But please tell me you haven't paid out this grand before you get some results ?

The biggest issue with hiring freelance SEO people is the fact that it takes so damn long to deliver results while your domain could very well get sandboxed if it's not aged properly or you're doing something sketchy for backlinks or content (WP/forum comment spam, or dupe content).

If you're making $5 a day and you paid $1,000 for it, you've only got to wait 200 days to get your full return on it. That's 6 month's revenue (which, if you were selling the site or domain, would be the price you would sell it for). Personally I don't see it so much as you paying too much so much as you invested $1,000 into something that will come to fruit in 6 months time (who knows - it could snowball and you could start seeing full ROI much sooner once his results start showing).

Your not really giving us much information to make a decision. Really depends on how difficult your niche is and how many keywords he will rank for you and what is his vision of a top position? $1K could be a deal but it depends on a lot of factors. Is he keeping you updated with reports or is he going to run off with your money?

Actually, it depends what you want to rank for. $1000 for a top ranking for a big time keyword is actually pretty cheap, but something tells me this isn't what's going on.

Getting PR on a domain is worthless unless the domain has a strong backlink profile, so forget about that.

Well, i know him for a few months, so I think it's safe. I didn't pay him the 1000 straight away, just 500, and 500 if he delivers it. So it's not monthly, it's 1000 for the 'big deal'.

The point why i'm doubting about him, is that I don't hear much from him. Only when I ask about how things going, and then sometimes I have to wait a week before he responds. So i'm a little bit nervous about it.

I don't got any results so far, and he's been busy with it for a month now.

It's about keywords that I think are not big time, and there is not so much competition.

To rank high on Google on 5 keywords, a high PR, what's the average money for that?

5$ a day = 150$ a month. I don't think it's bad as people usually sells sites by multiplying their monthly revenue 12 times or more.

It's not much for 6 months if he will do the job. Ask him to send you a ranking report every 2 weeks.

High PR and high rankings are 2 completely different things. I think you could have made a better decision because you are paying for PR. PageRank should be only a consequence, not a goal.

My advice for you is to pay for rankings next time.

no don't pay if you can earn 5$ a day just buy multiple domain and work your ass...

Its not to much...mostly people invest 1000+ money per month but only white hat links.

It's an impossible question to answer. I've never heard of buying pagerank. Pagerank is based on the number of good quality links to your domain. To get PR6, he will have to build quite a few high quality links. Site authority is obviously important but you can't put a price on it. You can however put a price on links and rankings.

You wouldn't notice a difference if it has only been a month (i think PR gets updated every 6 months). Given that you have already paid half and are due to pay the other half on completion, you just have to sit tight and see what happens. I would recommend in future to find out exactly what they are going to do for the money e.g. what links they are going to build, the number links etc. The price will then depend on the quality and whether they are manually build or automated. Black hat is cheaper than white hat...

if your site is mns then u got sucked if its a big authority site then its ok.... also here applies what few other members said before
