GSA Search Engine Ranker - Extremely Powerful Linkbuilding Software (Free 5 Day Trial)

Hiya. Great program. How about an option where certain links in your project have a higher chance of getting chosen? e.g. have the root URL selected 50% of the time and 5 other sub-pages selected 10% each.

M.

@Lee: In most points you're absolutly right. My target was to minimize accessing/linkbuilding on such sites and use the saved power for more valuable backlinks. It's of course impossible to filter out everything, but what Sven did is just perfect: An auto-updating blacklist based on multiple sources. I think thats the best thing what is possible. In my case I don't use a badword list beside default (because this filters out too much usable, such words can exist in a completly harmles context). I prefer to block malware domains instead. Everyone has his own strategy - and I think it's great to have different opinions here and dicsuss them.

Martin you can create a copy of a project and edit it to your required settings and set the post limit, this allows you to post additional urls only to certain platforms and only up to a set limit.

Or run two projects, one aimed at your top level url and the second at the inner pages
It should spread the links out over time

Which is what he said ^^^ :o:cool:

^^Or, unless im mistaken, add your main url 5 times and the rest once. If GSA works like i think, it will pick a url from the pool at random, so having one in there multiple times increases its chances proportionately.

No one else worried about that fellows blocklist.de problem?
I have a bunch of private proxies anyhow, but dont like the idea of getting canned just for proxy testing!
Or have i missed something obvious?

No, not really. Just use private proxies, they are quiet affordable. I think they have reported you because of "port scanning". When you can afford a VPS, then I think you can afford a few proxies too.. (and they are much more stable than harvested proxies).

Yeah, i have a decent server and plenty of private proxies from a few different sources, its not a problem for me.
Its just i have never heard of getting reported for proxy checking before.

That's of course really strange. It would be interesting, how often this host was "scanned" with the same IP. I can't believe that this happens with only a few tries - because this wouldn't spam network owners to death. Perhaps the settings were wrong and triggered this action.

This forces me to another (optional) suggestion: Why dont query http://stopforumspam.com/ and other services like this and notifiy SER owners when they should change the IP (or give the addtional option to automaticaly stop). I also heared there are some honeypot forums out there. I'm sure there are for other platforms like blogs similiar possibilities.

In my case I was lucky atm. I'm using proxies only for searching. It consumes a lot of bandwith to handle everything over proxies (that was the reason why I suggested in the past to give an additional option, to search with proxies AND to post with them, but don't send all other traffic over them).

I asked Sven a few weeks ago something similar related to this, but he kind of rejected my request because I was the only one asking for it.
I was asking if he can implement two sets of proxies, like private and public, and use them as we see it fit, one set for harvesting and one for posting. I would have harvested with public and posted with private.

Feature Request

i have master linklist from other projects that gsa verified and was able to post to.

now when i import master linklist to new project not all are submitted to correctly due to bad captcha, timeout, errors, etc.

its my understanding when you try to resubmit the non verified links gsa will not post to them and reply with "already parsed"

instead of GSA skipping links that where "already parsed" and not verified, is it possible to resubmit links that where not verified?

pretty much asking gsa to resubmit to pages where link was not verified

You could probably duplicate the project and select "delete target URL cache" on the second project and I believe it should submit to them again. I'm not 100% positive on that so instead of wasting your time trying I'll get a definite answer from Sven. Hopefully he'll be able to implement something because I would like to see the software able to do this too.

Keep in mind you can increase the retrys for captcha fail and also timeout, etc to improve success rate a little.

I'm sorry i fail to see the relevance here? if you have private proxies the what is the problem of using them?
public proxies are slow and more that likely banned so what point would you have in using them if you have private ones???

My private proxies are bandwidth limited and also not allowed for intensive scraping and since I'm using them with multiple applications i would have preferred to only post with them (which is how i'm using them in SER anyway) and scrape with public ones (now I don't use any proxy for scraping).

It comes from the scrapebox mentality that scraping will googleban your private proxies. However, as GSA SER does scrapes in little batches, followed by posting, then verifying, then scraping again (rather than scaping 800k results in a long SB scrape) etc, its not an issue really.

It already does this. It remembers the answer to your captcha's and if it is successful it remembers the answer in case captcha is brought up again. It also has the answers to over 1500 of these questions built in + it solves basic math captcha's automatically.

Ok great, thanks for clearing that up. :)

it would be really handy to have the log file register if a download failed due to timing out or if was due to some other html error (403/500 error/g00g blocking), this would make it easier to tune the html timeout settings and public proxies as u increase/decrease threads, perhaps SER could retry urls with a different proxy, where the current proxy was the problem and timed out? (if SER doesnt do this already after turning that proxy off?) s4nt0s, could u pass on the request to sven when u next get a chance?

s4nt0s, did u get a chance to ask sven about this? ^^^ for some reason ever since updating to 3.42 (and continuing with 3.43) i am getting a lot of download failed errors even though set up is the same (and i can manually verify the links are working).

also, next time u contact him, can u ask him about the possibility to provide an option to choose link engine types when creating tiered link campaigns? (maybe in the pull down menu of 'use verified urls of'?) it would be much easier than having to create separate projects for different engines to just build additional tier links to the verified urls and not for example build tier 2 links to guestbook pages that ur link has moved from to another page already or whois/statistics pages etc.

Anyone new to this and would like to work together build a solid tier list and campaign pm me!

So far so good everythings top notch!

site:.edu
site:.gov

Does this really works? (I think you mean adding this two strings to the end of each keywords). Aren't search queries built with quotes)

EDIT: Here is also a huge footprint list - don't know what's already included and what not: http://thinkpaid.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Scrapebox-Footprints.txt

Thanks for clarification, this makes sense of course. I think it depends how many projects are running together. If there are a lot projects (= a lot more search queries), then it's possible that search engines ban the ip when no proxies are used.

In proxy settings there are multiple options: searching, posting, everything. I'm not sure what "posting" means. Is it just used to post the form, or does "posting" mean everything beside searching? I've also the problem that bandwith on proxies is quiet expensive, not the proxies themself and "everything beside searching" would consume a lot bandwith.
