Now I've got everything working except the grabber. Still waiting to hear back from hostgator with the correct path for the cron job.

Also, I was thinking about creating a few more pages with some text content to make the site look "less thin"... maybe this will help with ranking it? A little extra content probably couldn't hurt.

What would be a nice spin on this is if you could add a description to the post. This way you are adding more text to each post and creating more content. Even if it's just a few sentences, it's gotta help a site as thin as this when it comes to content. I'm sure someone knowledgeable could code something like this in no time.

Im in this niche and unless you have BIG traffic, its really not worth setting up..
I am fortunate enough to have a lot of traffic on my site, the cpc and ctr and pretty low.
As far as adsense goes, I know of a lot of guys who have had their accounts banned because a lot of these sites have adult material on them, even if its just minor.
So just be wary of that. Good luck

Thanks for this info. Are you sure they were banned because of adult content and nothing else? That's good to know though.

No problem man, yeah most of these sites have "borderline" adult content with funny captions, like a demotivational pic... Then its up to adsense whether or not it is worth banning.
HOWEVER, and NB this, if you live in Pakistan/India, the chances of your account getting banned in a "mass-ban" is quite high.
Adsense does a check every now and then, and if the cpc is really low, which it normally is with these kinds of sites, they assume fraud and crappy traffic because of where the account holder lives.

So if you do live in India/Pakistan, consider JV'ing with someone in an adsense friendly country or find another way around it

Thanks, I appreciate the info! I'm in the US... I doubt that means I'm safe, but I'm wondering if it's worth the ban on my adsense. Maybe I'll look into other things... maybe email submits or something?

If you decide to share your custom template, let us know! It took me a minute to figure out the facebook like box on the side too. Did you get your grabber working? I can't figure mine out, still waiting to hear back from hostgator with more info on the correct path for it.

How do I add the ads without the site going blank? Every time I try to add an ad, the page wont load then I'll have to change it back to default for it to load.

I had the same problem. Don't delete the div codes, put your adsense code in between the div codes and for every " in the adsense code you need to add a \ immediately BEFORE it. Add the code manually through editing the ads.php file, not through the admin area.

So, for example:

I still can't get the grabber to post to my site. The cron job is up and working... grabbing images and I'm getting an email report. But, it's not posting them to my site. My settings.php file is set for the grabber posts to be autoapprove, but they are not showing up on the site. They are not in the pending or declined status either.

I called hostgator to verify I had the correct command for the cron job, and the tech told me if I was getting an email with all the posts in it then the cron is working correctly, and there is a problem with the configuration of the grabber.

Here's the crons I've used so far:

php /home/myusername/public_html/mysite.com/grabber/grabber.php start this one works and was sending me emails. this was in the readme

php -q /home/myusername/public_html/mysite.com/grabber/grabber.php this one works and was sending me emails. this one hostgator said to use

usr/local/bin/php - f/home/myusername/public_html/mysite.com/grabber/grabber.php start did not work, got error in email "/bin/sh: usr/local/bin/php: No such file or directory"

So it seems that the cron is working but the grabber doesn't know where to post them. Anyone know how to fix this?

don't get too excited, the grabber doesn't post to your site and apparently nobody knows how to get it to work. so there's no way to add new content to your site daily unless you are manually adding hundred of photos!

create a database in cpanel and add a user to it. update the db.sql file with the new database name. go into phpmyadmin in cpanel and click on the database you just created. import the db.sql file. now edit the db.inc file and enter your db name, password, and user. leave the localhost as is. upload any file you've changed to your site through ftp. if it's not working, there is a problem with one of the above things i've mentioned. double check them all, i had the same problem and just overlooked something with one of the steps.

Hi guys, registered a few days ago and have been reading this thread since yesterday. Was just wondering why my pictures aren't showing up?

Everything seems to work, but when I submit a picture it says "Ok, accepted". Then on the home-page there is just a little red X, the thumbnails also have a little red X.

When I check the img URL it says /1.jpg, /2.jpg etc. So basically the problem for me is that the script is uploading the pictures as a different filename, just a random string with .jpg at the end, but on the index.php it is trying to display the files as 1.jpg.

I read through the thread a couple of times, and somebody suggested taking out .md5 which I did, this didn't make any difference.. I also tried downloading Pager from fedoraproject and it also made no difference.

Any ideas?

Grabber works fine on hostgator baby plan, but it didn't work on my old host.

You're host is the problem.
