Should I fire my SEO guy?

Do you even know what whitehat is? Whitehat for $200/month? I don't even do blackhat for that price.
Fire him, learn SEO, hire a guy who knows what he's doing. Or atleast hire an honest person who knows what he's doing.

How much do you think 250 directory submissions cost? Hint: fiverr.
How much do you think 50 article submissions and 100 bookmarks cost? Again, fiverr.

You should've been more aware of all the scam going on in this business, that price tag itself should've been a big red flag.

Fiverr for all link building? 55

Hey take a look at this webpage called ebizsubmit for SEO, Website Promotion & Internet Marketing, i hope it helps you out :)

better get some one form here in the BST section that way at least he will be responsible for the work else you could post here in shit list

Well, Many Hard working teams are there every where, because of one or two idiots please dont think all will cheat u.

my advise is he is doing with software only, actually he takes orders and doesnt care about what you really looking forward. initially your orders are vital for him, but if he gets more orders he forget your site and he sends last minute work and send a useless report.

so better find another team. More on your PM box

It's funny how almost no one mentions unique content creation posted as articles and high quality web 2.0 properties created.

Just by doing 20 of those you would see massive movement once they are indexed and have a few manual social bookmarks pointing at them.

$200 for this? Fire him! You're better off buying services here on BHW.
Thinking the same, I can direct that money here and get better results. But, he's now providing prompt reports after getting a shock at the end of month 1.

You say it's impossibly cheap, then? About fiverr, I had a meeting with the dude couple days ago where he shared his desktop on skype and I saw fiverr window on his desktop. I didn't say anything though.

Funny if the dude is on BHW...
That'd be hilarious! Getting his letter of termination in form of a thread.

Will do. Thanks.

I've never been into the shit list and don't believe in it. Hoping to stay away from it but BST here mostly is amazing, people are helpful so I'm thinking I'll take a hit on this month's payment that I've made out to him and then divert the funds here.

The thing is, he's doing pretty well for himself. He's ranking big keywords for himself. The references he's shown are ranking some amazing keywords. References are also posted publicly on his company website so they aren't fake. The thing is that he doesn't care because I negotiated him to about half the price that he normally charges. But then what's the point of giving a discount and not doing the work at all.

He's done social bookmarks and articles, not unique. Two articles without any spin. Social bookmarks was also not spun, just three descriptions. The two articles are pretty good quality though. No web2 properties done yet.

regardless of whether he is incompetent or not (he is)

there's a conflict of interest. fire him.

What's the conflict of interest here?

An interesting thing. I did a search on this guy's first and last name, his phone number and company name. Only found one complaint and it was so fake I could tell with my eyes closed. If a company is doing shady things or forgetting about clients after getting money, I'm sure we as humans are big mouth and will make sure we are heard. But nothing against this guy online.

My advice is to search for a service that will really give results. There are numerous SEO guys in the BST thread who gives positive results. Check it.

try to find another person and try to pay more for better SEO Service to make yourself satisfied

SEO is such a broad term, in my experience if you hire someone to do SEO for you... you will get everything but not the actual job done. Its like telling to freelancer that you want an excellent software without specifying what it should do.

Pay for a goal only, i.e. tell him that you want 3000 directory submissions, 50 web2, 8 press releases and co and co. Let him figure out his price and if it fits you pay per milestone.

Well, I'm firing this guy even though he's a nice dude but he's just not getting the work done the way WH Seo should work. I can pay a whole lot less for 50 articles here and get better spin on the material.

@lancis - thanks, I'll try to find someone who is willing to get paid per milestone. Or as imperial444 said, maybe find someone a bit more expensive. You get what you pay for.

I've typed the email of termination but haven't sent it yet. Just want to know, can this guy hurt my site if I fire him? Negative SEO, removal of articles and bookmarks and such?

Technically you paid him to do all the bookmarking etc so he should all of that as it was all work paid for by you for you so in turn he has no right to take it down as its paid for and he has the cash in his pocket. In terms of negative sro you should put it into the termination that he should not wilfully engage in any negative seo practices against the company otherwise you will take relevant measures against him ie intentionally defaming without reason im sure there is a law against defamation of a company

But did he ever discuss broad, overall strategy? Did he describe various options, and how much each of them might cost, and what his opinion of the effectiveness of those options might be? If you went with the low-ball price, you shouldn't be surprised if you get less. It's important for the long-term relationship that everyone involved have some sense of "what's what". It's not fair to overbill a customer, then under-deliver. It's also not fair to expect first-rate service at bargain-basement prices. There's due diligence required here by both parties.

$200 doesn't buy much "hands-on" SEO time. How many hours do you think he actually spent "doing things", and how much did you pay him for those hours?
