I went poof on May 10. Look at the dates of my posts in that thread to see how long it took, how I went back in, etc. I really don't have a clear answer regarding why I am doing fine now. I don't know what I did to make this happen or if I did anything at all.

Yeah, I definitely don't make the claim to know exactly what to do to defeat penguin.
Did you do anything different with the one site that increased in rankings?

I kind of feel this way too, meaning I really don't know if what I did, did anything to get me back in the SERPs. I really want to say the things I tried worked, but I really don't know for sure...
And truthfully, going forward, I don't know what to do in regards to off-site seo...I will continue to add new content and interlink all my pages, but besides that, I don't know if I want to do anything as I am afraid I won't meet the cut next month when google does the penguin refresh...what if i did no off-site seo and then next refresh i get crushed again? Now, that would be a trip!
The only things I would consider doing and will mostly do is increase my social signals on my blog posts (not money pages)...mostly retweets...
I was kind of waiting for someone to come out and say they have an authority site and really strong interlinking between these pages and they still got crushed by penguin...If you are out there, please let us know...
This is my best guess as to why I might of recovered, but its just a theory

I wish I had a five step action plan for you, but unfortunately I don't...
If you haven't de-optimized your anchor text yet, this is probably a good place to start...
If you have an authority site and you have not done any interlinking between the pages, this could possibly help...
I know the feeling as I was crushed by Panda 3.3 and Penguin...google punched me in the face and then kicked me in the balls...wtf...

This is definitely me too. I don't have the slightest idea what to do regarding seo. I'm afraid to do any right now for fear that it will ruin the comeback that I seem to be on.

Yeah, I wish everyone the best on this forum as its us against google and google has the keys to the kingdom unfortunately...
I really wish there were four or five competitive search engines so when things like this occur, it wouldn't be so much of a shock...

I believe that you mentioned that you were hit with the Unnatural links penalty somewhere few months ago? Could it be that the penalty have been removed and you have been recovered from the penalty? Is it 3 months since you received the Unnatural links penalty message in the webmaster tools? Is there any message dispplayed at your webmaster tools?

I am just trying to more diversify anchor text links. Already lowered On-site SEO. Need to get rid from the bad backlinks. All this should help to archive pre-penguin rankings

I'm happy for you guys who regained your positions, unfortunately my main site got hit again. It is very competitive adult term (name of one solo girl) I was on 1-2 position before penguin, after penguin I was 2-3 page, yesterday page 13 and now its nowhere to find. My sub pages and web 2.0 are above me. Its really strange, because I never used many black hat stuff on this domain and zero since penguin. I'm gonna try that interlinking stuff. I would also like to ask you what kind of links should I use for better anchor variation, is there any kind of backlinks that seems to be penguin proof?
