His been in that position for over 8 months. If he wont last long keep in mind he has survived all the Panda/Penguin Hits.

Also, I am 110% convinced that I got a manual review which is what did me in. I was fine until I got in Google for the most competitive keywords like "jewelry." I was going higher and higher. My inner pages were going higher and higher for their url endings. Then in the blink of an eye-poof. Everything was gone. I am not even that black hat. It had to be a manual review.

I have a feeling that Google tuned down the aggressiveness of the algorithm over the past two days. I've seen several clients sites bounced back up to top results on page 1.
Just keep us updated on the rankings of those two sites of yours and we will try to correlate the data.

yeah, dude...it sucks...i'm losing a bunch of dough too...remember, never click on a google organic ad result or buy an android phone...if you already have an android phone, don't buy one the next time you are ready to re-up...

Well, give it some time so that the links get indexed..
What does an Android device has to do with the search? I hate iPhone due to the fact I'm not given full control over the device.

... and one of our client's rankings have come back up, 3 days ago. It isn't where it was (#3-4) but around 7-8 now, and all the keywords we were targeting (6) are on page 1!
I just concentrated on getting links from as many places as I could, with a lot of anchor diversity. Didn't make any on-page changes. I've done this with several other sites too and a good number of them came back but this was as tough as it gets. We had spent 3-4 months getting the rankings and in less than a month, the rankings were gone when the Penguin hit!
One thing to keep in mind though is that this site had some pretty powerful links from its niche itself before the Penguin. The only problem I could see was the anchor texts were too concentrated around a few keywords that the client wanted to rank for. It also has an active social media presence (nothing fake!)
I'm so stoked right now!

How many links did this site have before being hit by penguin? And do you know how many links you created afterward to recover the rankings, approximately?
