remember moving companies have some of the worst complaint wrap sheets in the bizzz... heres what i would do, youve spent some time learning this industry right? You scouted out the competitors right? You have something to show for what your werent paid for right? Well unless you signed a contract with a injuction clause, go to there direct competitor- theres always one, and offer some discounted consulting work- work the deal!!!!
@OP, this (the above-mentioned) one is a top advice, IMO.
As a blackhat'er and a decent one at that(!), you can do a great satisfying job as a thorough businessman, you can also teach a lesson or two to your erring client in the process.
Rest up to you, but take action soon, taking fast and appropriate ACTION is the keyword here and will keep you and your business moving in this dog-eats-dog business world. Vengeance isn't the proper word here, instead such a "shrewd business strategy" can be extremely rewarding and achieve the required results for you in the long run!
Be an ever-great service provider, but don't extend this golden rule to those type of sh1tty clients.
HTH!
P.S.:
Of course, the clever (no harm in using this adjective) competitor will want to know the "why", so "make up" and tell him a golden story while also getting him positive results (which will also be more "satisfying" for your hurt ego/business

), but don't tell him exactly why you are doing him such a grand favor!

Laugh it out and ask him for out-of-station (same field) references or some other ancillary business house references (in the same field) as your special reward.
IMO, your erring client needs to learn The Lesson quickly through your master-stroke, so that his future service provider is spared a similar fate... Show that dog that he has indeed bitten his own 'soft bone'. There are of course more potent ways to show him who's his master, but those games should be played only by the real masters in the field. For you, I feel that the above method will turn out to be more rewarding for your business.
So, learn and grow positively from a bad experience! If I were you, I'd really Get Working Immediately on this.
