Follow Me, Or Not [Journal]

Day 13

Today I... slept. Only got 3 hours of sleep the night before. After a full days work and then an intense gym session I passed out as soon as I got home.

Day 14

Today I... went over to my buddies house after work and was over there all night. That's two weeks of journaling and as I look back I really haven't gotten jack shit done. Here's to a fresh start of the next two weeks with eyes wide open on my bad habits that must be broken.

Day 15, 16, 17, And 18

Nothing... That's six day in a row that I haven't done anything for the site. I added new stuff to the menu, but without content in it that means nothing.

I had this some trouble of lack of motivation before I became self-employed my first time around. I would struggle to get things done, but as soon as I started making some decent money I hit the ground running. All I wanted to do was work.

I need to get back that same motivation and intensity that I had while I was self-employed and start it now, not wait until I start making decent money again... because only God knows how long that'll be.

I will change my ways, and this journal will completely turn around from being dead posts to being filled with things I got done day after day. I've conquered this road before, and I sure as hell will conquer it again.

This is the first thread that I've subscribed to. I look forward to reading more about your journey back to where you were. I am just starting out myself and I am always looking for good quality threads to read. Keep up the good work!

How much were you making previously with IM if you don't mind me asking? Good luck with your journey:)

Yes I'm still here. I was making realistically about $200 a day profit when everything was going good. I haven't been updating this thread because I'm actually trying to get back into providing a service again. I've been spending my time testing it out and getting it ready. I figure once I can get self-employed again I'll have much more time to work on the fitness website which is more of a long term goal. Short term goal is just to be self-employed again as quickly as possible, and providing a service is the way I know how to make that happen.

It has been a while since I've even posted on the fitness site so I'm going to make a new post today and try to at least add a new post every few days, and maybe fill in the pages that are missing content over time.

Day 19

I'm back, and I'm going to pour my heart and soul into this site. I have a solid game plan now, and I'm ready to go. I had some trouble staying motivated due to thinking it would take me quite a while to actually build up good traffic to the site, but I've figured out how to solve the traffic problem so now it's just up to me put things into motion.

My Blueprint For Traffic

I've recently purchased TweetAdder, even after reading up on the lawsuit they're currently facing. My plan is to use TweetAdder to start adding followers to my sites twitter page. Each day I will follow 200 new people that are keyword targeted, and also unfollow 100-200 people who have had 3+ days to follow me back and haven't done so.

For everyone who follows me I will send them a direct message asking them to also like my Facebook page. This should get me more likes on my Facebook page, and therefore I'll be able to reach more people through Facebook and also build up my Facebook page.

Doing this every day should start a snowball effect, and I should start getting more and more Twitter followers and Facebook likes each day. These Twitter followers and Facebook likes is where I will try to drive my traffic from, and where I will try to find more people to get traffic from.

Quality Content

As far as quality content goes, and having a site that's actually content worthy of being an authority site, I feel I'm on the right path. My main focus right now needs to be to get the initial pages of content on the site done so that visitors stop coming across "Coming Soon!" pages. I have a lot of work to do here because there's a lot more stuff that needs added. For example the "Training" section has no information yet whatsoever, and this should be a section filled with a lot of content... so I must get the content down.

Stats

Here's stats for the previous month to yesterday. I'll post stats once per week on Sunday for the previous Sunday-Saturday.

Facebook: 180
Twitter: 199
Weekly Unique Visitors: 18
Previous 4 Weeks Unique Visitors: 85
Total Unique Visitors: 261
Total Site Income: $0

I have a lot of ideas on the direction of the site as far as the what I'll be adding to it, but the main focus now is to fill the blank pages on the site with content.

Great, like threads like this. Never give up and always strive to your goals! Remember that all the hard work will someday give you a nice profit!

Day 20

Today I...

  • Added content to "Beginner Basics" page of Training, Build Muscle section.
  • Added 2 new facebook posts and twitter tweets.
  • Edited text on "Build Muscle" page of Training section.
  • Added content to "Lose Fat" page of Training section.
  • Added content to "Training Techniques" page of Training section.
  • Added content to "Training Advice" page of Training section.
  • Deleted about 100 photos from the gallery and added about 100 photos to the gallery.

Long story short I'm trying to set up my gallery in a way that'll be user friendly in the long-term but my attempt at it today failed. I'll look more into it tomorrow.

On a side note I added 40 new twitter followers today thanks to the Twitter software I've been running. Growth with that thing should be exponential, and the ball has started rolling.

Site is looking good. Wish you nothing but success. How do you plan to monetize? Adsense? Clickbank?

Why not have a professional build your site? Rather then a simple wordpress theme plan and map out your site, and pay someone or a team to build it. Then advertise and have a good looking, content rich site to send people to. That'll raise your avg. visit duration, and get more people to want to spend their time on your site.

I wish you the best though, extremely happy to see this isn't a:
14 y/o journey to $20/day with youtube and cpa
thread!

Thanks. How to monetize the traffic is what I've been thinking a lot about lately. I did have an idea to start a newsletter which listed the best deals of the week on certain top fitness sites, stick in an affiliate link to the sites and make good money that way. That's what I think would not only be one of the better ways to make money, and not only a great way to build up an email list, but also something that people would actually love to use. I would also have a page on the site listing these deals which would bring people to the site all the time.

I just haven't figured out the specifics of it all yet. I've been focusing a lot on getting more content on the site because some of the pages, such as the entire "Lose Fat" subfolder under the "Training" section has no information at all. There's just a lot to do.

Haha yeah! I don't have the money to get my site professionally designed and advertised. I know that in the future it'll need a professional design done to it, but I like the layout of it for now. It looks professional enough to get things started.

Also doing a fitness site, trying monetize through Adsense, 2,500 UV made only $1.30 is this a normal result? Two square ads left column above the fold. Traffic referred from FB

That sounds really low. How many clicks did you get?

Low CPC words possibly is why

7 clicks:/

Yeah it must be a low CPC. Fitness doesn't have high CPC so the payout is low. I threw up some adsense on my site yesterday and got a click today and only got $0.05 for it.

Day 21

Today I...

  • Added a new section to the gallery.
  • Put up adsense ads on my site.
  • Made my first money from the site since its birth... only $.05 but oh well, gotta start somewhere.

Day 22

Today I...

  • Added the "Hottie of The Week" section to the Gallery.
  • Added the "Celebrity" section to the Gallery.
  • Added a celebrity profile to the "Celebrity section.
  • Posted a new article.
  • Added a new Facebook post and Twitter tweet.
  • Added a list of 6,400 people to follow to my Twitter software.
  • Started a rough draft of the "Superset" page under the Training Techniques section.
  • Added a little bit of content to the "Workout Programs" page in the Build Muscle section.

Tomorrow is like my Friday, so after tomorrow I'll have the next two days off. I'm hoping to get a lot done in those 2 days. With the list of 6,400 people added to my twitter software, at it following 300 per day that should last it two weeks, so I plan to just keep my computer on with the software running in the background over the next two weeks.

Are you targeting long tail keywords for authority site? If not, You should be cause there's no way your gonna rank high for a general keyword like "male fitness" without having hundreds of thousands quality backlinks and a wad of extra cash.

Anyways Good luck, Subbed and Hopefully you won't give up and remember "No one ever wins without losing first"
