Sites Gone? Google Update? WTF

This bugged update shit is still going on. I just noticed an expired domain popup to the #1 spot for a relatively big time term with 30k searches a month. This domain wasn't there back when this update first hit, it just appeared yesterday.

Can i just ask for those who have lost rankings on Friday (on or around 20th) for no reason? Has anyone got rankings back?
I know Matt C has said it was caused by a bug in the algo, something to do with parked domains?
But has anyone got rankings back since this happened?

My site witch is over 10 years old dropped by 20+ pages last Friday and still no update????
I should also add, i have never blasted it with SB or Xrumer and no message/warning in webmaster tools?
Also no advertising on my site, i dont have ANY paid advertising on my site, it just sells my product!

Yup - I totally see this too... I have another site that I haven't touched in a year, and wasn't indexed at all just jump to the #3 spot. To bad is for a barely searched keyword...

The penalty is slowling wearing from my sites. I had to do some hardcore stuff the last 3 weeks, but i'm still hanging by a thread. Google doesn't realize what they've done. Some of the most under optimized sites for my niche are now ranking in the top 3 spots where i used to sit. Just keep building quality content and hope for the best.

What a joke. So, it is surely possibly to blast someone's site with a bunch of junk links to penalize them. I dropped 30 spots today, looks like I'll just have to blast 29 sites.

The same sites of mine that disappeared before have all dropped a few pages again today. There seems to be more YouTube results on page one and big retailers like amazon and chain stores.

edit - and the pages of mine that are now showing up for my keywords are like weird, not-really-relevant pages.

For example:

Before:

keyword 1 - homepage
keyword 2 - homepage
keyword 3 - homepage.com/page-about-keyword-3

Now:

keyword 1 - homepage.com/some-random-page
keyword 2 - homepage.com/that-same-random-page
keyword 3 - homepage.com/another-random-page

Here's a quick version of my update. I'm tracking 9 domains for clients. All but one of those sites is in Wordpress. Some of them are updated with unique blog articles regularly, but most of them are updated very infrequently. Each site is a a business website with no AdSense or affiliate links. All sites have optimized meta tags. The only off-site work for most of them has been done with NHSEO. Of all these domains, only ONE has gone down significantly, and it's a domain parked on one page of another site. Several of them have seen significant gains in the past week.

What I'm concluding is that informational business sites are safe. Maybe the update is mainly targeting sites that are obviously geared towards making money?

I've been on you tube, been searching around and from what I've seen so far of Google's changes one thing I see that remains constant is this"QUALITY CONTENT". You cant beat a website with just back linking, as long as you have quality content Google will eventually find you and consumers will too. I'm sure as Google becomes more stable that there will be more Black Hat Tricks to help resurface SEO rankings, but only way to beat Google these days is to join them. Give Google what they want 'QUALITY CONTENT" and eventually you'll get what you want Traffic=$$$$

m right with you guys! On 4/25/12 lost my keyword ranking I have had for 6 years! Never did backlinking and all that spam stuff. So now I am doing a quality backlink campaign hoping to get back where I was.

Same here, all my websites went down in the serps, they all had unique content.
The last thing I remember is using and adwords account from fiver in one of my websites and the account got suspended, they are all using google analytics and webmaster tools BTW.

Pardon my ignorance, but this IS a "blackhat SEO" forum, right? You're all shocked at google punishing you when you should be doing things properly in the first place. Come on guys, we don't want to be on the same level as the bloody indians et al flooding on to the internet and web dev. markets devaluing our work.

Now why would you bump a thread that has been idle for two months with such a nonsense comment? You complain about Indians, when it is you who should be looking in the mirror to face your own ignorance.
