Sites Gone? Google Update? WTF

Found something strange i had 6 sites all on the same ip/host completely vanish two of my sites were clickbank products that was ranking for its domain name/product name with 0 backlinks from me all affs. Other 4 were aged high pr content domains that I had been adding content backlinking for years. My gut is telling me they rolled out some type of algo de-ranking based on ip possibly if one of your sites was hit for bad linking they de-rank the rest sharing the ip/nameservers.

I had a look at this eariler - one of my batch of websites is on shared hosting, some 300+ domains sharing the same IP. I checked a good number of other websites on this IP and didn't see any notable instances of dropped rankings to make me think its IP related.

Perhaps if one of your sites was bad in google's eyes, they punish all of your sites. They know they are your sites by linking Adsense, Analytics, information from bills in your gmail...... etc.....

My sites haven't been hit, and I've used a private blog network service from BHW and SEO myself.... I got my site on webmaster tools (before that, my rankings weren't so good), and on Google Analytics, my rankings are stunning, improving everyday by a lot. My site I started doing linkbuilding with only 1 service (besides blog networks) about 6 days ago already ranking top 10 for 4 KW with a total of about 125k monthly searches on Google, haven't been building a ton if backlinks, but quality ones.
My site is a custom HTML design, 1 article on it (500 words), site is not over-optimized.
My rankings are #1, #3, #7 and #8, and one of the KW can be considered hard, but haven't really checked.

Awesome, you are obviously ranking extremely non-competitive terms despite their search traffic,
In other news, my sites that are all on non-competitive terms have all increased too... really ... what's the point?

Do you even pay attention to anything in the ultra competitive pharma/finance/insurance/lead markets? or just want to pretend your private network is so awesome that people buying up 17,000 blogposts/mth on fully private networks just don't know how to play the game?

I'm curious... because I have a wide range of custom bots running on my sites, doing things you couldn't even find a service to do for you, and yes they all benefit... so what?
What's changed, and what's been destroyed, are all of the high profit, ultra competitive markets. Not a single site in the top 10 back in Feb is still there... across the board. Not unless those sites are huge brands (progressive or statefarm etc)

Thanks... your link building strategy isn't special, believe me, at all...
Everyone can afford private blog networks, and if it was just a matter of building your own, I'd have 1000 domains with PR3 or higher by next PR update.

I've built 2000 high PR (PR4+) ******** links by comments + one of my sites has over 3000 higher PR blog posts, from fully private networks, and around 200k active web 2.0s in a pyramid (not built with a crappy tool like SEnuke either).

That site is still being outranked by sites with 1/100th as many links and crappier quality ones... this niche is ultra competitive though. How I've gotten my site to recover (it was not penalized) from its Feb drop is stupid, and shouldn't have worked, but it did.

Yeah that will show them if enough people start talking about it, yes. That's how things work and spread, called word of mouth and memes look into it. How do you think anything gains momentum? I'm actually not affected much by my sites or clients, I just don't like their over-reaching monopoly/power and I know a lot of people that have been affected on philosophies google swears by to rank. If everyone thought like you nothing would get changed, thank god a lot don't.

Lol. Yeah. That will show them!

Keep using them for all of your SEO stuff, but stop using them for personal searching. You realize that a reduction of that small in traffic is like a fraction of a spec of dust to them, right?

Give me a break dude. I get you're spiteful at them because you likely over optimized your website (which was warned not to do, not even a month ago.) But either adapt, and grow, or quit and find a different line of work man. They're not going to revert these, or any other search spam related updates. They never have, and just face it, never will.

Sit patiently and await the blog post from Google regarding this change. Nobody but them knows what was changed in the algo, and just as they did during all of the Panda updates, they will explain what you should be avoiding. TREAT WHAT THEY SAY AT THIS POINT AS GOLD, AND AVOID THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF IT.

All my sites are stable at the moment, but i noticed a heavy ctr drop in April..

In other news, my sites that are all on non-competitive terms have all increased too... really ... what's the point?

lol! quote of day in what has been a real shitty one! thanks for making me chuckle, I needed it today....by the way, what actions did you take which shouldn't have worked??!

Shots fired

None of the big sites in this niche have fully recovered, mine is no exception. It was top 5 and is now back to it's pre-Feb position (before it jumped to the top 5) on the 2nd page.

What worked was a crap load of anchor link diversity, and driving traffic from other sources and letting the site sit there with a trickle of awesome links coming in for the last month... (usually PR4+) All of the anchor link diversity came from subpar links...

I had insight into this when I saw that sites with 15k nofollow links were ranking in hyper competitive markets again... clearly google is being retarded...
I am now working on aging domains for 1-2 mths and building diverse links slowly then, once the new domain shows up on the 3rd page, hitting it with a massive amount of blog networks.

This works, like a charm, for 2-3 months. How to stay on page 1 for something like "car insurance" for more than 2-3 months, is a mystery to me, and to every other SEOer in the world apparently.

EP good to have you back. Just wondering, for the links, is PR4+ the onpage PR or is it the root domain PR.

Blogposts on a root domain,
with about 50% either manual or using a custom script to drop links on d0follow blogs with low OBL.

At first I thought my site was special, or odd in this market, because it dropped first... but within 2 weeks after the Feb roll outs, everything that had housed the top 10 spots for years was gone... some worse than others... some are recovering more than others.

Domain diversity linking in can also be extremely powerful, so don't underestimate it if you want to stay at the top longer.

Firstly I feel for everyone effected by this but dont get down or give up, theres still good money to be earned from affiliate marketing we just have to change tactics to accomodate google (sad as it is unfortunately its the only way to go). I have noted a few things from my experience of the last few days if it helps at all. In the last week 3 of my best ranking websites have dissapeared, all aged domains between 5 and 8 years old however they were bought aged and I've only been working them for 6 months or so, highly onsite optimised done using dreamweaver / html and hosted on 123-reg.co.uk. All 3 were ranking page 1 or 2 for their various different search terms. I did have a google analytics account with them all in with others that haven't been effected but deleted a few days ago after the main earner got hit but the other 2 hadn't but have since.

The only similarity between the effected sites is they are all affiliate sites and I've used black hat on them, my non affiliate sites using white hat for my own businesses and friends / families websites have improved slightly. My main site has 24 pages of informative unique information as well as affiliate links. The other 2 were single pages full of unique information with a single affiliate link. All 3 have gone too far down to find for all pages.

All 3 sites I have used black hat techniques on from here and fiverr gigs but nothing outrageous, a fairly mild mix of different backlinking services including .edu, .gov, .ac.uk forum posts and signature links, unique article submissions with varying anchor text backlinks, link pyramids, directory submissions, unique articles on related website blogs ect. I did however use a drip feed backlinking service for forum and blog post links on all 3.

Infact when I do a search now for the terms I used to rank for 1st page only the big players show up and possibly only those that have advertising campaigns with google already.

So from now on I'll be building future sites without using black hat techniques especially forum / blog posting software and rely on good unique content, good onsite seo and reliable / trusted backlinks. Its survived this latest blitz hopefully it will in the future.

Good luck all!

Kind regards,
Jason.

Another thing to note with my main site thet took a hit is that I paid for 100 google +1's (but stopped them on 40 because I thought it was dangerous) and 1000 facebook fans on the facebook page I created for it. Anyone else noticed google +1's or facebook followers in common with rank depreciation?

I've returned to my previous positions for all my websites. Was this just a google fluke?

I had three sites in the same niche.... the completely white hat one gained two ranks....
The other two had shitty backlinks built from SB, XR and AMR [shitty content].
These two sites were on #15 and #19 for primary keywords. Both of them are not in top 500.

I have lost you. What is white hat site?

I am not kidding, i am really not sure what are white hat link building techniques?

SNAP I noticed the very same, just searched for two of my sites----- RANKING high where they previously were..!

Excellent. I hope they stay there now, and I hope others in a similar boat also get their ranking returned.

info from bills in your gmail? say what?

where is the evidence of this?

if this actually happens, G should be sued for all it's worth.

YESSSS!

anybody else get back on yet? give it a day.

i came back on for my keywords (for now). was totally blackballed from search terms as well when i woke up this morning. here's my tiny story...

some guy took up the top three spots with his spammy sites and i was #4. last night (maybe two nights - can't remember) he got booted to page 8 or so. i thought, "good. gd spammer," which pumped me up to #1. this morning i was gone. just checked and his top 3 and my 4 are back on. i guess it was just the "google dance" this morning. i hope. i'm happy....for now.

learned a good lesson though. new to this stuff, and believe me, i was all about getting ahead any way possible. now that this gave me a good s*** in my pants, i think i'm going 100% whitehat. i mean, all the work done should last a lifetime, right?

even though it's not reality, in the back of my mind i think, "big g did this to let us know what would happen if we continue this way..." something to think about.

what a relief! hang in there guys. you'll come back.

My site is back ! :DDD

But its one spot lower than before but its ok.

What did i do ? Nothing i continued building manual backlinks with OBL lower than 300 (but i mostly have links with 100 obl)

lol reading bills in gmail?! we all know google is a privacy molesting bitch but that is just a little bit too paranoid dont you think mate?

Guys, it is really coming back, i just check and 3 of 7 webs are back in the serps, even in higher position. My guts really feel that all webs will be back.
