Sites Gone? Google Update? WTF

google targets private networks. maybe they don't get all of them at once, but rest assured they will keep trying. if they had it their way there would be no private networks for backlinking purposes.

doesn't mean you can't make money with them, though. just be prepared to lose it at anytime.

Sites are NOT being hit b/c of what hosting company you are with...lets put that theory to rest, not really logical...

Let's face it - there are still 10 sites ranking in the top 10. Google changed the rules again - adapt to survive. I have nothing but immaculate quality Tier One's and I've gained in the last 48 hours hard. New sites and old. And yes, I BH the shit out of that Tier One, I just have a solid base.

Simple: Add quality content, build quality links, blast those quality links. The game is essentially the same, and I'm sure many people will find their rankings recovering in no time.

I would bet that these people had BH sites that were hit and their white hat sites resided in the same webmaster tools account, analytics, adsense, etc. Remember, Google recently changed their privacy policy for a reason. Now all data they collect is intermingled and used to their benefit. Instead of penalizing websites, they may be penalizing people and everything they own. However, this is just speculation. I don't believe the changes we are seeing now are permanent nor do I believe they have been applied to all "offending" sites yet.

While I am very into article marketing I haven't used any of the public networks for a couple of years. I only use my own network and two smaller very private ones. I was involved in the VIP network here, but have seen no negatives from it's loss of blogs recently

Few year old established "authority" sites are affected too. This might be a huge change for this game we are playing, just have to adapt like every one else is saying. There are still 10 pages at the 1st page.

My sites have not moved yet, but I'm guessing it just takes some time to happen in local, non-english searches.

with shared hosting, you still get a unique ip address (at least i think), as you can log into your ftp account with this ip address...

and do you think google doesn't know that most websites on the internet use shared hosting?....

this is a retarded theory, use some common sense...

also, just b/c someone says their site is 'white hat' on some forum doesn't mean its true...what is 'white hat'?...this is a good question and there are 500 answers to what it is...

in my mind, 'white hat' is you build a site and do no manual or program related promotion of the site...you just sit back and hope your site starts to gain backlinks organically (like that will ever happen, ha!)...

google says 'black hat' is paying for links or using automation tools, the second you pay an seo company to do so called 'white hat' seo, you violate google's terms of service, "dont' pay for backlinks", well you are paying for backlinks when you pay an seo company for 'white hat' services...

i use blackhat everyday so don't think i am some sort of warrior for white hat, fuck white hat...just know the difference...

My sites got knocked off for a second time in a year. Only keyword that I rank for is a bunch of out of the way, 3,500 or less 3rd page facebook banner keywords.

I think this may be trust related. All of my sites are .au - to obtain a .au site you need to give a valid Australian Business Number and so forth and have a legitimate entitlement to the site name. I've always associated .au's with Trust, and have always had more success ranking them.

Aside from this, I always have an EMD (they're easy to get for AU as they're so strict). Obviously this also increases trust. I believe these, along with having absolutely no spam on my sites or on my Tier ones, is why I've gone up in rankings in this Algo update.

Is this just me or has google gone into a "lockdown" with our data?

looking over my SERPs, it seems google updates are occurring around the 17th of each month...has anyone else noticed this?

That's great and I sincerely hope that trend continues for you. I still say putting all your eggs in one basket is crap advice though.

I wasn't really effected by this update either. Due to the chatter at BHW I did a few rank checks and noticed one of my sites dropped from #1 to #3 but it is one I haven't worked on for a while so it may not be related to this update.

Perhaps they drop because of diversity or keeping a set keyword density and not including LSI keywords, or link velocity. Far too many factors to be able to guess without seeing a good sized sample.

Yeah, I've recently started tapping into social media traffic. People don't mind clicking the Like button after filling out a CPA offer.

I have two on shared hosting as well. And they're rock solid. Atleast for now.

This is only happening so people stop giving a fuck about backlinks. Once backlinks become a thing of the past in the mind of us IM'ers then negative seo is obsolete. Negative seo is probably the biggest threat to Google because it's filters won't be able to determine whether these spammy backlinks are being used maliciously or rather to give your website an advantage. So what is Google's game plan? "Backlinks, who needs em?". Any thoughts?

All my content MNSes are stable, but I have one CPA-based website, and it went bezerk.

It's been ranking AMAZINGLY for like over 50 keywords for a whole year, and today all my homepage ranked links were gone! So like if domain.com was ranking on page 1, it was gone! But stuff like domain.com/page2 are still ranking, but every homepage ranking is gone!
