Domain Endings for Ranking

So personally I rank much better with .com, but I've also used .org and .co. ORG seems to work well too, not as well as .com though, and .co seems to work but not do much. I also have a .me, which does absolutely nothing so far.

So right now, I found a very good EMD domain, but .com, .org, and .net are all taken.

I can get:
.ca
.us
.mobi
.me
.tv
.ws

So far I'm thinking .us might work, .tv might, and .ws might

Opinions?

I would suggest to only ever se .com/.net/.org and if none is available then add a word or letter to front or end of domain name.

Adding dashes from my experience hurts majorly.

Here is what I have found and I have ranked thousands:

.com, .org, and .net are the best options
.ca - I am American so I am unable to get these
.us - This one is a decent option

.mobi, .me, .tv - These are last resort options, much harder to rank

.ws - Just shoot yourself

.com.us - I am testing this one out but I expect it to tank very well due to the high price. High price - higher end sites.

Not necessarily.. And how does that even come. You can get coms for $2 to $50 or even $100 at some places. xxx domains are even more expensive.. That doesn't mean they can be ranked easily..

with .us you will find that you cant have private registration, ie quick search on 'who is' will reveal who you are - personally i wouldn't touch .us for that reason.

Hyphens have no effect with Google and is only concern when branding the site. I have ranked sites on the first page for major keywords (think Apple products) with a hyphenated site.

adding a single letter, dash or anything in the domain name will slow down rankings about 50 times. So does the site being a .info. Go figure... OTOH EMD org,com,nets rank top 30 in a week with no links. Google def favors spammy sites more now.

I believe the logic would be that a spammer wouldn't fork out for a domain that is more expensive than they need to. This is why I believe .info suck, they were so cheap that every spammer on the planet used and abused them. I personally think .xxx will be as easy to rank as .com and plan to build an adult blog network out of it at some point, and due to the high price tag I'd imagine Google will realise they're rarely spammed.

^^ This. You shouldn't be worrying about domain extensions. You can rank any type of extension. Obviously com,net and org are the most popular. I have ranked with info and co just as easy as the 3 popular ones.

Just because you've done it doesn't make your statement true. A Google representative once said something like "We're going to devalue EMD's a little because they're too strong." Which means that Google values EMD's more.

Look through the top 10 for just about any keyword and you'll find more .com/.net/.org than anything else without a doubt.

You should be good with it I guess unless you are going after a crazy difficult niche.

I think, .com, .org, .net, .co and .me ranks equally well. I have domains for each of those extension and everything works fine for me. I was able to rank comfortably with the all the extension.

The most important thing I worked on was Contents, I didn't go with traditional 500 words but instead I went with atleast 1000-1200 words. This really helped me a lot.

I have a very good experience with all .net, .org and .com. domain names. These domain names are representations of some renowned business organizations. However, I also have received many positive results with .us and .ca, but still most of the times .org and .com. Furthermore, I have recently started with .mobi, so until now, I cannot give any description regarding this.
