I have a number of AdSense sites. I don't claim to be making $1,000s a day from them like some of the noobs who want e-cred I've seen on the forums, though. They all rank well for their keywords and bring in consistent money, however.

I try to find keywords that have what I consider a decent amount of competitors and that pay well. That's going to vary based on your experience and expectations. Some people might think 100,000 competitors is too many, others might be comfortable with 1,000,000. As far as pay, obviously more is better but most of the high paying keywords have like 50,000,000 competitors and it's not (usually) worth my time to compete with them. It seems like noobs always want the high paying keywords. They choose something that pays like $15 per click and they buy an .info domain and think that the SEO garbage over on fiverr is going to help them rank, and then when nothing happens, they say "fuck this" and give up.

I just use Google Keyword Tool.

I use themes that look nice and will keep the visitor on my site.

Every site I have is high quality. I don't do automated crap or put bullshit spun content on my sites, and I don't pay shitty writers who write articles that don't say anything (you guys all know what I mean). I spend time on them making them look nice.

Everyone wants to do a numbers game. They want to press a button and make 500 sites. Guess what? None of those sites ever rank because they suck. Even with great SEO, they will still not rank very well or for very long. Especially after Panda.

All I can say for myself is - after just one try, I can confidently say I will never hire writers off odesk again . The content is absolutely ridiculous, in my case all of the paragraphs were the same content with different phrasing, and a lot of words were used up by "quoting" product reviews off Amazon. And this was an author with good feedback!

Yeah, it's mostly bullshit. Do you think anyone is going to stay on a site with crap content like that? Would you? Of course not.

I have, just recently, created a site that targets a 20k search/mo. Exact keyword and am having a bit of trouble getting to that first page. The main competitors are pretty weak and have shitty sites, but they're older.

I'm hoping to emulate some of your SEO techniques to help my site get to that top spot in G.

He's not doing any link building or any effort to go blackhat. He will simply create content, share to the public/social networks, create videos and stuff to pull in traffic.

Nope, almost everything I do is whitehat and this is no exception. In fact, that's why I work with this particular SEO person.

I've never had a site get penalized ever.

I'm pretty strict about what sort of SEO I do, though, just like I'm pretty picky about how I develop my sites.
