Hi All:
I got my Reseller account up today . I too brought a TLD (.net) domain as domain for my hosting website.

I need few guides regarding

  • CMS For my website.(e.g. Carts, layout.I am good with Wordpress)
  • Reasonable Price for my customer(how much would you pay for hosting)
  • Precaution that I should take before actually going to business.
  • How to do Marketing ?(I am learning SEO here though)
I know its too early to start my own business venture but my guess is without trying nothing will work.

Any feedback will be appreciated!

well,
-I think you should get a com domain
-I would pay $5/month for hosting
-First of all, secure your website as much as possible for hackers
-promote on facebook, tell people, flyers, whatever you think will get you people in

- You can use wordpress but you would need WHMCS. So once your website is setup, do the whmcs theme integration. If you find it difficult to integrate then you can PM ME. I can help you with the integration.
- Regarding price, this would depend on the kind of config you are providing. How many Domains, sub-domains, ftp, emails, database etc. I would say around $2-3 a month and you can prepare various plans
-Biggest Problem you are going to face is with Support. You will have to provide 24x7 support or else people won't buy.
- Hosting is one of the biggest and most competitive niches out there. You will have hard time selling them. Even if you work on SEO, it's going to take crazy time to rank because even the low search words are highly competative.

Overall, starting a hosting company is not easy. Initially you might even make loss. The key thing here would be having patience.

So if you are ready to take all the challenges then you are welcome to the world of hosting business :D

Hey,

Well, really... If you are trying to get into a business already dominated by multiple big brands that get by just off name recognition alone, you will have to make your prices dirt cheap compared to theirs... they have:

-reputation
-24/7 support
-probably more options / features

you just have to look at their plans, and go at half or 60% of the price.. this is just my view from a consumer perspective

Thanks everyone for comments.

Regarding 24/7 support I think I will have look for solution.

after setup the site, start posting some +ve reviews ;)

How about 50 cents hosting?
That is what I want for very low traffic sites

Try getting a reseller at a host that offers fully managed support link HostGator. That way you can advertise 24\7 support + monitoring and just pass your tickets off to HostGator. Hell you can even have a forwarder do this. I know people who work there and that is what clients do all day long lol.

Get WHMCS. You can buy a webhosting template online.

Make sure you have a cell phone an extra battery, and don't like sleeping because people will be calling you off the hook 24/7
