After a largely unsuccessful 7 hour keyword research marathon I've decided to call it a day. I found keywords I could rank for over time but no golden nuggets today unfortunately. Pretty frustrating but I'm sure we all have those days, right?

What I did notice today is there's YouTube vids cropping up all over the place and ranking very highly for pretty competitive terms. I investigated these and some were under a year old with single figure, none to impressive, backlinks. Given the time, effort and usually money it takes to create and rank decent websites these days, is it really worth the time and effort, in light of the fact that you can apparently set up and rank videos in a very short time for a fraction of the effort?

I've got zero video marketing experience so would be interested to hear an experienced marketers views on this?

Cheers!

yes video marketing have future , but depends which product you wana promote , and vid marketing depends on your strategy.

I've little idea of Video marketing. But I think it has a great future, but don't think its gonna be the main thing in future. Old school marketing methods may still prevail.

It depends, not everyone likes to watch videos. I personally hate watching a 5 min video of something that takes 30 seconds to explain in plain text. I still think that video marketing can be a good supplement to a more traditional strategy.

The reason youtube videos rank well is because of the authority of youtube itself.

However, marketing via video is harder because most people do not have the time to sit there and spend several minutes.

We live in a fast paced world, and so that is why those types of videos do not do as well; of course, unless they are review videos and range from 2-3 minutes.

There is a reason commercials are under 30 seconds; people have short attention spans.

video marketing can dominate. All depends on the situation and the offer / video quality.

video marketing won't dominate, but think of it as another way to market your site...

the more avenues you have your promotional materials, the better chance you have that someone will see it when they go searching...

Hi,
Once the user has posted a video in youtube they should do the following this.

  1. use a ping service like pingomatic to ping the url of the video
  2. also add the url in social bookmarking website (this helps google to index the url more firmly)
  3. if possible back linking the url (with keyword in the anchor text) of the video page from article directories will be really helpful.

doing the above 3 tasks will help to boost in SERPs very quickly as youtube itself is a authority website.

What else do you know about ranking a video thumbnail in google organic results? or just do what you said and everything should be good?

I have some videos I want to rank on the first page of google organic results and the keyword I am targeting is decently competitive so I need to build a good number of backlinks...

Now people, business, search engine all concern on interaction to rank your website and business.
That why video marketing help a lot and play a huge role. While you can find out that lot of blogger earn with big bucks and only full time blogger. You can notice that none of them did not use video marketing before they share their blog content.

Video marketing is not only the future, it has also been the present and the past. Just need to use it accordingly.
