Sounds like a good idea, I'd start with more hours and reduce over time. Then outsource and use software to make even less amount of time.

Maybe he lives in country where education is not so expensive like for example in US.
I still believe that he can learn a LOT on any college. And also, that could/will be a really great time of his life.

You get up at 4 in the morning..?
Actually begin around 6 and we do not eat until late in the day... either way an 8 hour day as a business owner (IM is a business) is part time at best.
Want to succeed?
Get up.
Wake up.
Work.
I've been doing that for 30+ years and it remains a constant as part of how to succeed.

I don't know many self-made entrepreneurs who have got there by working 8 hours a day to start out. If you do, then I'd love to meet them. If the OP considers that "full time" and enough to make it on his own then I don't think that's very realistic. Point is - you've got to put the hours in initially to get it going to the level where you can outsource and save your own time.
I did say that that's when you are starting out. I work less than I used to, but still work hard and am available 24/7.
@ OP - I also did a degree and think that it helps me to some extent now. The actual educational side isn't overly useful, but the contacts/independance is fun and I think it makes you a more rounded individual.

i'm currently a full-time student and part time IM...things are slowly starting to pick up...
I go to school just so I can receive that financial aid and invest it into IM haha

The people saying not to go to college are either kids or just jealous of those with degrees. College isn't that expensive if you know what your taking and you know how to go to college. Do not go straight away to a 4 year college,take the first two years at a community college then transfer. Depending on where your located you can get a bachelors degree for under $16,000,not counting books.

Yeah, entrepreneurship is about compressing your total hours worked in your lifetime into a few years so that you can enjoy the you have when you are older.
For more analytic people:
Average person works 8 hours per day x 5 days x 50 weeks x 40 years = 80,000 hours
Entrepreneur works 16 hours per day x 6 days x 51 weeks x 16 years = ~80k
Depends how you look at it, though. Would you rather be retired when you're old, barely want to do much and tied down to responsibilities? Pros and cons as with everything else.

That's the right attitude. I quit my 60+hour/week manual labor job and working full time. I don't miss my old job at all! Good luck man!

That makes no sense lol. You tell him to not go to school, but to have a backup plan. What's his backup plan going to be? Working at McDonald's?
If you still live with your parents,my advice would be to stay in school.
I dropped out because I taught I could learn faster if all the old farts were not in my way,in a way,it's true but I regret it now. Not because I think the old farts are necessarily better, but you won`t get another chance to acquire real skills with little financial requirements.
You don`t need to work for the man (whatever that means) afterward, you can just apply these skills to help yourself.
I want to go back to school with the money once my biz is up and running

Great advice. Just finishing up my second year at community college, and I've helped my family save sooo much money.
I paid roughly $2,000 per year for everything (tuition, books, etc..). So a total of $4,000 for 2 years of education. Not bad at all!
