Hey everyone,
I haven't really made tons of posts or shared tactics here on BHW. Let me tell you first a little about myself and what I'm set out to do.
I'm a successful Web Developer and have my own at-home business for a number of years. I make an average of $11K a month, but sometimes money is tight because of clients paying late and having bills/overhead costs run me back sometimes 2 months or so.
What I'm pretty much trying to do is create a second-flow of income that can be generated monthly, or on a more consists basis than my current payment scheme. Also having extra money is great for savings, vacation, etc..
So I've read a lot of threads on the GP Letter Method and decided to give it a whirl. I live in an area where there's not a lot of online-competition so I'm hoping to have it become a success - if not maybe generate some extra cash for my Web Development business along with other things.
First Steps:
I bought the WSO a few days ago and printed out all the PDF's (I like having things printed so I can actually look at, helps me focus more I guess... I have enough windows/tabs/applications running on my Mac as it is!) I already setup my Letter Template and Customized Cover Page & Links for each of the letters I'll be sending out.
The Customization {Change-Up}:
Instead of using the plain letter in the Bonus PDF that came with the WSO, I decided to change it up a tad bit (see image below) - btw the font is "Top Secret" font that's available for free online; I figured that would work better and catch someone's attention that it would be a very important piece of mail rather than something like Arial.
Also if you noticed, I'm displaying the paperclip ON the cover letter - another trick that I figured would generate someone opening it up to see what could POSSIBLY be inside, double-whammy right there as soon its opened on top of whatever the WSO suggested.
The original GP letter isn't being covered with their newspaper ad since it's behind the cover letter... (image below)
The plastic sleeve with the blue binding I found out Staples.. they come in a 6 pack for about $2.50 US.
The rest of the package contains what the WSO tells you to include... so I'm going to do a couple tonight to try and mail off tomorrow.
For the actual website that I must create, I attached it to my business site... I created domain.com/offers/{business-name} using the method found here at this post:
http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/offline-marketing/414350-gp-letter-method-use-code-quickly-create-annoying-offer-webpages.html
The only problem I ran with is making the {how many people are searching for your site} part of the wording work for EACH different business. What I did instead was just use something generic like "thousands of people" or "a lot of people" instead of the suggested phrase. That way I can just type out /offers/{their-business-name} and it would automatically populate the last segment of the URL with their Biz name.
I also setup Google Analytics and a script that would email me anytime someone went to those particular URL types... that way I can get an idea instantly and probably follow up on it if I don't hear from them (the email script will help more than GA of course since it'll say in the subject something like... "Business-Name has viewed the Offer!" in the email.
I'll find out what type of envelopes my local USPS office will let me ship - as suggested in other threads I'll utilize the APS and hope nothing gets returned... I think I'll have one mailed to myself and see if it arrives.
I'll post in 2-3 days and see if I get any responses via the web or phone.
Whew, here's to success and trying to break the 20K monthly barrier that I've been trying to hit.
I'll also be doing more IM things and putting things into action... being a Web Developer and staying up to 4-5am everyday to get projets done can only get you so far!
