I do not know all the ins and outs, but I know enough to see that there is an ethical issue in the killing of animals.
Obviously nature disagrees with your morals, because that 's exactly how evolution of the species progressed in the last few million years on this planet. Species killing other species for food.
Taking it a bit further, it can be said that your position is highly immoral for 2 reasons
- You are advocating a non-natural way of life.
- There is not enough agricultural production to sustain 6 billion people effectively. So, pushing your agenda means either that you are ok with humans dying of famine or that you don't care enough to consider the consequences of such an agenda. If on the other hand, you are suggesting this practice only for a subset of "enlightened" people, you are an elitist, which again is immoral.
Furthermore, morality is subjective, thus non-scientific. It is just personal choice that is silly to be generalized and taken out-of-context as a mantra for sheep to follow.
