KFC cuts chicken beaks!

I think you are missing the point, animals have feelings like you and me, plants dont
So is that a fact?
Whats your source?
Last time I checked it was beyond our capabilities to fully understand if they do or not.
We just assume they don't because they don't express feelings (if they have them) the same way we do. Or in a way we understand.

Here is an interesting article on the subject

They also did a similar experiment on myth busters lol

I am not trying to argue that plants have feelings or that they don't. I am simply saying that we don't know if they do or not. However we do know that they are alive and therefor COULD have feelings

And no i was not assigning different values based on 'species membership' , i was basing my values based on a existing quality.
You are assigning different values to species that have a specific existing quality. Just like people assign chickens and cows different values because they have a specific existing qualities such as not being intelligent as dogs or cats.

Yeah but you see everyone has their justification for doing it, and the text presented by the OP says killing life is always wrong, which is the whole reason I posted here (also why I was saying you didn't get the point).

I was not subscribing to the species-ism concept, I was on my own different point.

What i am saying is that we should be able to use our interletcutal capacity observe and then make a moral descision. If we see that a being does not want to be killed, which all animals do not want, we can make a moral descision not to kill.

Some things dont seem to have any kind of feelings or concious mind(fruit/veggies) to make us find any moral reason not to eat them.

And some things dont mind being eaten, such as maybe the staff bacteria, since it will turn you into its hoste and feed off of you in turn. what i am saying isnt limited by species-ism.

I do not know all the ins and outs, but I know enough to see that there is an ethical issue in the killing of animals. Anyway, i digress, yes op, they cut off the beaks, but not much people care since a lot of humans are addicted to meat, I apologize to you chickens for the destructive behavior of my fellow humans

You were on a different point which is where the confusion is coming in. ;)

Update: Artificial Meat has been invented. No cruelty to animals anymore.

You realise that we hate chicken so much, that we haven't even got a name for chicken babys? A chicken baby it's called...just a chicken baby lol.

Thanks for reminding me about KFC

I forgot how good it was

Is it not a chick?

Humans rule the world and that is not going to change. Call it speciesism if you want, but that is irrational thinking. A bear would eat you if it was hungry. It's survival of the fittest, and Humans are the fittest. Poor chickens, yea, but they give a lot of people food and jobs.

The real tragedy is not killing animals, but how we have all this food and don't feed the people dying of starvation all over the world

I had popeyes just now, their chicken is ok,not as good as kfc. But there biscuits and potatoes are better.

Ok, but the main reason i am saying its wrong to kill the animals is only because they have feelings. If plants do also, then its wrong in that case also. I am not basing anything on speciesism. If what i am saying so happens to fall under som kind of philosophical classification, so be it

If clams, blades of grass and trees happened to have feelings, you're in deep doo-doo.

I lived with a vegetarian for about a year and a half, and she could cook great food. I never turned down her veggie food. In the end though, just about every dish would have been better with meat in my opinion. I don't care if a person wants to be a vegan/vegetarian and make their own life choices, but do it and shut the fuck up. Nobody wants to hear about your self-righteous bullshit reasons for doing so.

Why should anyone shut the fuck up? Its a free country, anyone has the right to voice there opinions.

No one is being self righteous. Activist are speaking on behalf of beings that cannot speak on there own behalf. They are not looking at it from there own point of view, but in the view of the other beings that are being murdered and enslaved. Maybe you want to consider those who stick up for the little guy is immoral so that you can justify your failure to see the point

Survival of the fittest, and trying to dominate and rule the world is not an higher way of thinking.

Yes a bear might very well eat a human if it were hungry. But bears dont have as many choices as us humans do. More over , dont know bout you, but i would expect humans to think less like an animal would and be more civilized then a bear.

People are starving in all over the world and the major part is that so many of the earths resources are going to feed all these animals that are being raised in meat farms. The very food that are going towards the animals that are being bread could have gone to the starving people around the world
