What AdSense-Settings are best?

Today I started Ad-Sense monetization of my Videos on youtube. Can you tell me which kind of advertising I should choose? Is it really best to activate both?

- Overlay-banner
- TrueView In-Streams

What option generates more revenue and what may make some users skip the whole video and watch another one?

In my experience, TrueView earns waaaaaay more. There is very little risk of people skipping your video, since users have the option of skipping the advertisement after 5 seconds. It would be foolish not to activate TrueView IMO.

That said, you should still use both. TrueView ads will not be served anywhere close to 100% of the time. So when YT doesn't have any TrueView ads to serve, let them lob up some overlay banners.

Yes by using both you will maxamize your earnings, that way an ad will always be shown

Trueview is fucking shit, but if you don't have prerolls and that's your only option, enable it. and NEVER disable Overlay-banner.

Never could do a 100% accurate test on preroll vs trueview but in a somewhat accurate test preroll was up by 20 cents compared to trueview.

Why is that, insufficient sample size? I've seen RPM on Trueview fluctuate by as much as 2 dollars, but the average stays fairly consistent.

If the difference is really just 20 cents, I don't feel as bad. I'm not saying it's insignificant, as that is a decent amount of money being left on the table. But it makes my envy more manageable.

All the videos on my network have preroll and disabling prerolls on like 6000 videos is just not feasible. The somewhat accurate test was when I partnered a channel but didn't link it to my network and the CPC went up about 20 cents when I enabled prerolls.
