Bitch Slapped by Google?

The more you think about it the more it makes no sense what Google is doing. First of all a Webmaster can spend countless hours writing Unique content only to later have a million webmasters steal it and put it on their site making it no longer unique. And if a competitor wants to de-rank you - all they now have to do is point a million crappy links to your site and get you de-indexed. I mean are they are crack. Are they not monitoring their stats and seeing that all this is making people do is not want to promote their products are use their tools. Pretty soon everyone will say F Google and move on. I don't know, just my thoughts. Guess I'm just piss I wasted all this time building diverse links only to get Bitch Slapped by Google.

It seems to me that manual penalties would not be lifted until you submitted a reconsideration request. If they just gave a time limit, then everyone could wait it out and then continue on as if nothing happened. Why would Google allow that? What about trying to tell Google a competitior spammed your site and it wasn't you that did the
bad linking.

According to Matt Cutts, manual penalties have a time out period. Once the time out period expires, the site can get back into the mix.

It is pretty clear to me that I received a -50 penalty to my site and the main keyword that it ranks for.

I have spoken to a countless number of people who have experienced this in the past and they say the penalty usually lasts 60-90 days.

I could be wrong. This is the first time my site has been penalized so I will eventually know if/when the penalty is lifted.

If google wants to permanently punish a site, they deindex it. My site has not been deindexed so if its in a penalty period and I believe it is, it will eventually come back into the mix.

Thinking back about my rankings, I didn't even need to buy into private blog networks or high pr home page backlinks. Before I started buying these services, my rankings were where I wanted them to be. I got greedy and wanted it all. This was my downfall.

Immediately after I got penalized I ordered a few high power backlink services here on BHW and my rankings went no where. I know this is a penalty b/c of the message in the WMT account and the extreme drop in rankings.

I have a positive attitude that the site will get back in the mix, its just a matter of when.

Yep exactly. This was severe enough to permanently change good websites from using blog networks that don't take the most extreme precautions. I expect most websites will bounce back after 60 days.

If it isn't a penalty that expires the only way to dig yourself out is to build the kind of backlinks that Google wants to see so it lowers your overall percentage of backlinks they don't like.

On the plus side, a lot of these deindexed blog sites will shut their doors and the bad links will fall off in the next 60 days anyway.

I've got a feeling an awful lot of WP article directories are in the same Google category as Private Blog Networks. I'll be staying away from them from now on.

I agree. Many people like to curse google for this or that, but google allows you to redeem your site.

Another thing I should note about the -50 penalty. My site sits exactly at position 50 in the rankings.

Yes and no.

And I agree, over back linking is out, but its been out of style for over a year so that's not new news.

Using blog networks is not over back linking, it was just a really good way to get your links indexed.

Yeah, I am super scared to ever put my links into a private network again.

I hope you guys are using a different search engine and telling your friends and family to stop using G. That's the only way they will get the message.

Yeah, I wish there was more competition in the search area as I received 95% of my traffic from google.

Yup, its google's world and we all just live in it...

I wish I wasn't so dependent on google for leads, but when google has a monopoly in search, this will not change...I received 95% of my traffic from google before I got slapped.

I don't even know how people say yahoo/bing account for 35% of all searches, not my experience at all...

True, we can't ignore them but we gotta start getting away from them where we can to make some kind of dent. I think Bing is gaining more traction with search, seems slow though unfortunately.

Seen my site drop from 6 to 10 and starting to worry that it's the start of something bad.

About 5 weeks ago I put some links on backlinks.com, I really regret it now, I've just taken them all off and I am going to start diversifying my anchor text now.

Got a very bad feeling about this.
