Hello,

How are you supposed to check what keywords your website is ranking for and where they are ranking in the search engines? Do I have to purchase market samurai?

Also another question that I have found difficult to find the answer to is:

How do you actually rank for a keyword? Does this mean I have to write certain words several times within one of my articles, in order to achieve some kind of ranking in google?

Any question related answers would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Use SEO Spyglass...it is one of the best software in finding the ranking, backlinks and also shows the anchor, because of his these features I'm using this one now a days instead of Market Samurai.

Some of the stupidest questions I have heard this year. No offense. Use search function.

If you want to use a free tool, you can opt for traffic travis then. Hope it will be a good one for you.

If you are going to ask a question why would you say this poster is promoting a product? You basically asked for a product. Besides if these are your questions you really have a long way to go. Maybe you should start reading instead of talking. Ranktracker from the company that makes SEO Spyglass is probably the best tool for this. I use this a lot too:

Yes I asked if he was promoting the product as his preferred preference. Not as an affiliate product.(Don't read head on..Next time.) Secondly, I have looked throughout BHW and have not found specific answers to these questions, (there is usually a lot of clutter writing in-between). Thirdly, you say you have a long way to go, however SEO is not everyones strong suit. I was simply asking two questions in layman terms, so that everyone would understand what I was trying to get at. Finally, I get the generalised answer, I was just trying to confirm the answer to the assumptions that I had already made, based on the information read.

Thanks.

And that's one of the stupidest answers I have ever read...If you read what I wrote, which you obviously did not: it says answers relating to the question.

Do not make judgements based on your own stupidity. I have read this forum back to front for the past 2 months. I have attained a lot of information from it, and It's not like I'm asking ("how do you make money?"): now that would be a stupid question.

I was looking for confirmation, so stop wasting my time.

Seoman you are out of line.

First of all MS only allows you to track 50 keywords and they are moving to a 1 check a week limit of the 50. You cannot check your keywords at will, you can only do so once a week. You pay more if you go over 50.

Second, the response to your software question did not deserve your snotty reply. Even an idiot could tell there was no affiliate link there to promote the product

Third there is a ton of information on this forum about how to rank a page. In the download section alone there is WSO after WSO telling you exactly how to do on page SEO. There are threads in the white hat section as well covering various aspects of it.

You question is so general that it is obvious you have not read them to any extent. If you had read them you would know about page titles, descriptions, header tags, keyword density, and a dozen other things. Then your questions would be more specific and easier to answer.

And lastly, but FAR more importantly, when you come into our house asking for help, you come in with your hat in your hand and a little respect in your voice.

Whether you realize it or not, you have squelched everyone's desire to help you with your attitude. Especially since you obviously did not read anything about ranking a page before the post.

Or rather let me say this, if you have been reading about how to rank a page for two months in THIS forum, and you truly needed an answer to THAT question, IM is not for you and you need to flip burgers for a living.

(But stay away from the deep fryer though, those bastards are complicated.)

Nail on the head. You clearly haven't read this forum at all. I would suggest you read a bit more (at least enough that you're confident in the basics of on and off site SEO, keyword research etc.), then get some software. It sounds like you have a website already, in which case big G analytics will be able to tell you what search terms are bringing people to your site.

Good Luck.

I am 99% sure that you can grab Traffic Travis for free in the DL section here on BHW.

I guess I started on the wrong foot with the first comment, because my question was too broad and should have been more specific to what I was looking to find.

Secondly, some people seem to have a general outlook with waiting for someone to post something awesome that will make them money, but as soon as an individual posts something looking for an answer because he is lost in the forum, I get comments such as what a stupid question. Those were the only two grey areas that I needed confirmed.

Yes I realised it but I do not like to instantly be mocked, as that seems to happen often on here. Had I not read the forum I would not have posted. SEO is somewhat of a difficult subject.

Stating what I do not know, rather than what I do, can make anyone seem incompetent. To suggest that someone will be flipping burgers, when they are making a lot of money in an offline business is a bit too judgemental.

And no I have not read how to rank a page for two months, I said I have consistently been reading this forum back to front.

Thanks for the reply.
