3 questions: 2nd tier, auto-approve, & web 2.0

I thought I knew a lot about SEO.... until I joined this forum. I love it here. So much so that I spend time on this forum during classes... I am in law school.

Anyone willing to help provide me answers will make me extremely happy! I might even give you free legal tips sometime in the near future

I also wouldn't mind if you merely posted a link to another forum thread or only answered one of my questions.

It's just difficult to read through topics without understanding these basics:

1.
What do people mean when they say "2nd tier" or "1st tier?" I keep seeing this but have no clue what it means. Specifically, I've been searching Private Link Networks and it seems to be a way to promote my backlinks?

2.
What is an "auto-approve" article? I've seen members here promote their list of auto-approve websites, what exactly are they promoting? I assumed it meant websites that automatically post your article (with backlink)... but what type of person would care about a backlink from such a shitty website?

3.
What the heck is a web 2.0 website? I've heard it used in the context of Facebook and other social media but many of those websites don't pass link PR?. which makes me wonder why members say to post articles in web 2.0 websites? For example, "blast your article on all your web 2.0 websites!" ...I don't see the purpose here.

Well! I'm also new here but my nearly 2 months experience in BHW teach me lot. So here is your answer.

1. 1st Tier websites links to your money sites ( usually web 2.0, high PR forum, wiki post, edu backlink, articles on article directories). And in 2nd tier IM create backlinks linking to 1st tier ( usually another set of web 2.0 and articles on article directories and then do a scrapebox blast and Xumer blast). 2. Article directories that allow you to publish your article instantly called auto-approve article directories. This give valuable backlink specially when you juiced it up with bookmarks, Scrapebox blast and Xumer blast. Here is a list of AA article directories:

3. Web 2.0 never means, you have to post articles on Facebook or other social networks. It's actually refer to posting your article in your own created blogs and web pages. IM often use wordpress.com, blogger.com, weebly.com etc. to create their web 2.0 properties. There are few software that automate such process such as Senuke X and Magic Submitter. Thanks for that great answer! I'll definitely pay it forward with advice to another newb sometime in the near future.

I do have a few follow up questions though... very quickly. I do the whole numbering thing (1. 2. 3.) to keep track of my questions... hope that's cool.

1. Are 2nd tier links important for backlinking? That is, if I don't build 2nd tier links, will the 1st tier links be effective?

2. Why would any SEO want backlinks from an AA website that does not discriminate in what it posts? Wouldn't Google recognize this and punish those sites? I always thought the goal is to get backlinks from high PR websites that don't merely post everything?

A 2nd tier adds validity to the 1st tier.

Auto approve articles are worth less than high PR articles but they are still better than no links at all.

mix of traffic and/or backlinks from diverse sources are essential and very helpful.
web2.0/social media helps your website's social proof.
using tier2 sites protect your main money site avoiding spamming issue.

regarding the tier 2 links.... lets say i sign up for an article distribution service to help me gain backlinks. For example, lets say i use UAW to distribute articles that i wrote. each article has a back link pointing to my money site.

to ensure these links look natural and organic, i now must create more articles that provide backlinks to my tier 1 articles?

theoretically, i understand this concept. but in reality, it seems it might just be easier to outsource this pattern to a knowledgeable SEO rather than do it myself... i feel like it would be cheaper to do so as well.

either way, i appreciate the advice and any other input you can provide.

Yeah you got the idea. Of course is it easier to outsource all the SEO, but not cheaper if you can do it by your self.

My second and third tier includes lots of "spam links" like scrapebox blast and social bookmark links. These are easy to get if you have right tools (scrapebox 57$ and bookmarking demon 147$ price is cheap when you compare to outsourcing it all the time).

I mix outsourching and doing it by myself.

I hope, you already get you answer on tier related query. I personally feel creating tier 1 and tier 2 manually is far better. Here is why?

1. You can place your anchor text in different places in your article. A software can't do this. A software create and submit article as per your spun text but place the link in same place each time. It really look spam in my eye and give big footprint for competitor as well as for search engine.

2. When you create web 2.0 properties manually, you can give it suitable theme, can organize it better which reduce the chance of dropping and also you can update it later with more content.

What I dislike about Private Network Submission:

1. Usually your link will be place in same format in each article.

2. Those often de-index from search engine and once it happen, your ranking also drop in SERP.

I personally design some pattern of manual link building and follow it week by week basis which producing good result in medium competitive niche.

In my view, it's better to outsource bookmarking, scrapebox blast, xumer blast but submitting article on web 2.0 and AA Article directory should be done by you or by someone who can follow your instruction and don't use software to complete the task.

I think he's just trying to say(about manual linkbuilding) that even if you have all of the tools in the world, it's good to do some of your links by hand. This helps to eliminate a footprint, and makes it more likely that the links you create will actually stick, i.e. not performing some action during signup that makes it obvious that you're automated and not human and getting your posts deleted instantaneously.

You might write articles by hand and post them on some web 2.0s. You might spin them by hand and also post those same articles on web 2.0s. I think it's just important to give a little more care to the quality of your tier 1 links versus everything else, although it's more or less just a suggested best practice. It's certainly not required, and I know of plenty of people that don't actually do these sorts of things. I guess it just depends on how risk averse you are, because you could create a LOT of backlinks in tier 1 really fast and it might turn out great or absolutely rotten.

Did a small test earlier.. SB'd 100 web 2.0's on 20k AA blogs with anchor text that was not relevant to the keyword in the tier 1's and saw an improvement of +30 in the SERPs of one of the non-tier 1 keywords.

Private blog network don't allow you to submit articles yourself. You require to put your spintax article there with resource box or link in body. That's why I hate this thing.

In my view, one should build 40% of tier 1 link manually and rest 60% using different tools. It's always better idea to outsource tier 2. In very competitive niche I even move to tier 3.

Manual Link Building: create web 2.0, wiki backlink, article backlink yourself without using any tool. When you do it yourself you can vary your link position to make it more natural which ultimately produce great long term result. Hope, everything is clear now.

A. It's depend on competition. We can only help you if you share a competition analysis screenshot here. You can use market samurai or traffic travis for analysis.

B. I first list out 3 keyword(highly related to each other) for each campaign and write an unique article base on those keyword. I make sure, each keyword is there at least 3 times in different places of that article. Now I spun the article while I protect each keywords. Then I create 10-12 web 2.0 properties and submit spunned version. However, I do some trick here. I add few extra related lines in front and middle of the article. Then I anchor link one keyword and change other keywords with their spun text version where possible. I never use default theme and always try to add some image and video where possible. Give something to that sidebar too. It take time but give me long term result without footprint and I yet to lose any of my web 2.0 properties.

C. I personally prefer a pyramid link structure. I designed my own structure that 100% achievable manually within 5-6 days. And, after completing each campaign I see a SERP boost within 3-4 days.

As you can see, 1st tier websites are the ones that directly link to your money site. 2nd tier websites links to your 1st tier sites.
1st tier sites would be high quality, low OBL sites like web2.0, high pr forum profiles, High Pr & Low OBL blog comments, video sites.

Autoapproval article directories : Article directories which does has not have manual review of the articles that you post. This mean you can post spinned articles(Articles that doesnot even make any sense). Please note that these AA directories would be very low quality, so you should link them to your 2nd tier but i think most of the selling threads that you would have seen must be Auto approval blog commenting sites.

Auto approval blog commenting sites these are similar to Autoapproval article directories but you will be posting on blog platforms. You can use a tool called Scrapebox, import all the AA links and blast them to your 2nd tier sites (btw Scrapebox is more than just a blog commenting tool!)

Web2.0s sites let you to create your own webpages like wordpress, blogger, hubpages, etc. As of now google loves Web2.0s, so can use them for your 1st tier.
