50% Traffic from Image Search? What is going on?

I have both Statscounter (STC) and GA to measure my traffic.

I like to keep an eye on STC as it gives me the keyword queries pretty fast. I have noticed that upon working on my SEO, I have an increase in traffic but I am getting A LOT (as in 50% of traffic) from Image Search in Google.

I am not sure what the above means: are they doing the whole click on image then download it then leave? Or are they getting to the article where the pic is through Image Search?

For the record, my bounce rate is 70% which I think is high as my site is full of related articles of value to readers. I have yet to master GA but it claims 70% on average and STC says about 50% of traffic is from Image Search. I noticed this increment when I started using Alt Text tag on the images, coincidentally.

sounds like they are going to the second stage of google images and then right clicking and saving the image while your article is in the background.

You know there are ways to burst out of the google images iframe and make them view your whole webpage to collect their image.

I would appreciate if you could let me know how to do that.

In fact, I believe some of my images are being hotlinked and have yet to really dig into how to avoid this (I think I have the option in my Cpanel). If you (or anyone else) could provide some pointers in this too, it'd be mucho appreciated!

This is interesting.. if this could be done then it would be nice to SEO the title of each picture. Although the bounce rate may increase, at least you might get more traffic which might mean more sales.

Indeed, and From 1k blogger that I have, almost 70% my traffick is comming from Google image, so I made a little bit tweaking on blogger, like auto post schedulled image on it, set up the right template ( SEO and Iframe Breaker )..Baamm..!! Trafickk..and Trafick..

I have been researching on using an Iframe breaker but I seem to read that this could lead to Google penalizing a website? It is funny because out of 10 images I click through Google Images, 5 of them will have me going straight into the webpage where the image is located instead of having the Iframe popping as Google has it set to. This is obviously done so that one lands in the page and hopefully clicks through ads or doesn't bounce off.

Oh, and I have seen this trick used by big websites too. Anyone know if breaking the Iframe for Google Images by putting some code will harm PR or have G penalizing?

Knowing the "big websites" might give us an idea on how much freedom Google gives us in this area. Can do the search myself but it will take a lot of time.. Could you share to us any of the big sites you have just mentioned?
