GSA Search Engine Ranker worth it?

Just wanted to say this software is for sure working. I wanted to do a small case study where I only used GSA as my backlinking source to see what kind of results I could get. I made a Micro Niche Site using a keyword I bought from one of the service providers here: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...med-high-advertiser-competition-keywords.html

I then registered the EMD for it on 2/11/2012 (8 days ago) then on the 12th I installed wordpress and wrote an 800 word article to put on the home page. After the article was done I went ahead and created a project in GSA to start building links to the site. I started building links to the site before it was even indexed in Google. (probably not the best idea but it turned out ok)

Less than a week later the site is already at #30 and SERPbook is showing 412 backlinks indexed.

So far so good, I'll keep the case study updated.

I'm doing a similar case study but it's with an older domain that I haven't done much backlinking too.

Question:

What are your project setting for getting so many verified backlinks already?
I have had GSA running for about 4 days but have no where near that many links. I have submitted 3-4k but have only a dozen or two verified links.

If you would be willing to share your settings it would be much appreciated!

Do you use its internal proxy scraper or private proxy?

I suggest using private proxy. I got around 600 submitted and 100 verified

My ISP switches my IP every 2-3 days and so I haven't been using my private proxies. I'll turn those on and see what happens.

Have you not been using any proxies?

In other words are you just relying on the ip change from your isp?

I'm trying to figure out if the built in proxy scraper just finds old (blocked) proxies.

Thinking that I may need to just use my good private proxies. I use them to run other software and don't want them to get blocked before their time.

For 90% of the run time I have not been using proxies as I didn't want them to get banned as I also use them for other programs. However, I have turned them on for the last 24 hours and still haven't achieved a 1 in 6 success rate like the above poster.

In fact, I don't think that my numbers have really increased at all in success rate.

My proxies are not scraped, they are private, dedicated proxies.

I use private proxies and instead of only loading in a few keywords per project I will import a list of keywords in my niche. So if I'm in the fitness niche I'll scrape keywords on weight loss, weight training, cardio excercises, etc etc until I have hundreds of keywords, then I'll import them into GSA. This will allow it to find a lot more blogs to comment on.

As far as my settings go:

Thread Count: 20

  • Skip sites with more than 50 outbound links (checked)
  • Skip sites of PR below 1 and also unknown PR (checked) set to domain PR
  • Pause the project (unchecked)
  • Skip the sites where we posted before on a different link (unchecked)
  • Ask user to and/or external service to fill captcha's (unchecked) Enable custom mode (unchecked)
  • Try to skip creating nofollow backlinks (unchecked)
  • Analyze and post to competitors backlinks (checked)
  • Search Engines (all checked) right click > all
If you want to speed it up even more you can increase the number for "skip sites with more than x amount of links" to a higher number. Also, unchecking the "skip sites with PR below 1" would help bring in a lot more links faster since the software wouldn't have to worry about only posting to PR1 and above. I have these settings because I'm directly linking to a money site.

Also for the site that was used in the case study I posted above, I had the project duplicated. You can duplicate the project by right clicking > modify project > duplicate. Then if you want you can load new keywords into the second project so the software can find different targets to post to. You can even triple and quadruple the project if you really want to.

Case Study Update

Rankings: still #30 but bounced around 26-29 for a few days
Backlink count: from 412 indexed to 712

The software is very versatile once you start to play with the settings.

Do you also have GSA SEO Indexer? It is integrated with the Search Engine Ranker. Are they more powerful together?

I have it and use it but I doubt its really necessary since GSA SER automatically pings your links anyways.

Thanks s4nt0s for the detailed information on how you are getting so many links!

I just want to add that if you really want to get even more links I've noticed an increase in verified links when I'm using Captcha Sniper to solve the captchas. So I recommend that you checkout CS (even though dev. is slow) it's already starting to pay for itself. Otherwise use a service like DBC (deathbycatpacha).

Just my .02.

quick question, can you set this software up to verify emails when submitting to directories? can't seem to find an option for it in the demo

Nope, unfortunally you cant... You will have to confirm them manually.

hmm, also noticed you can't have multiple keywords for anchor text.
Still ended up buying it, will see how it works over the coming days/weeks

Yes you have the option of multiple keywords for anchor texts and multiple urls. If this is what you meant.

Thnks n4tos i cant wait to try these settings, my links are not building that fast.

There is a MAJOR bug in gsa atm, be carefull!!
Last 2 updates are completely screwed: if you have added multiple urls in your project like this:

http://website.com#anchor
http://website.com2#anchor2

etc, it will attempt to post ALL urls, i ended up having 1000+ urls posted on several platforms like this

Obviously this isn't very safe, and i'm a bit dissapointed they seem to do very little testing before releasing an update, luckily i only had 1 site running at the moment.

Backlink verification is also completely broken at the moment, it shows verified links where there clearly are none, and the other way around as well :(
This last version is so broken it's not even funny, it's a real shame because i really loved this software, right now i'm forced to close it (for the first time).

Did you email Sven about this? I'm not using multiple domains but everything else you mentioned applies to everyone.

I left a mail about this issue, there are many other bugs, but this one is huge and makes it as good as unusable.

It's not about multiple domains btw, its when you add multiple pages with different anchor texts, it will just try to post ALL, which pretty much screwed me over, i now have pages that contain 1000+ backlinks to my site.....awesome!

Not to speak about the other 500 annoying little bugs, like project settings not saving properly, old settings that keep coming back on some projects (VERY DANGEROUS if random url settings change....)
Form and dropdownbox randomly being invisible also a great one.

Other weirdness like when doing a searchquery, why does every thing have to come to a halt? Why on earth? If i set it to 200 threads, there are ZERO reasons why 199 threads should do nothing to wait for that 1 slow proxy to finish his searchengine query.

If you run 100+ threads you will never be able to stop and shutdown the program properly, ever, you have to use the taskmanager to force close it, at which point (randomly) alot of your settings are not saved.

Really i LOVED this software, but i have no damn clue what they are doing with it, it's a mess at the moment.

[edit]
after some more testing, basicly anything that involves using multiple urls/pages/anchors is completely bugged aka not working whatsoever.
