I struggled with the decision to get my Gossip Site ranked. I tried everything and then decided to pull the trigger. FYI: If you get rejected you don't get a refund but you do get 7 days to correct what was wrong.
After you pay that $300, you are nervous as hell until you receive approval. It's also $300 every year, but I read plenty of people don't bother renewing after the first year and remain listed.
The interesting part about everything is, my Yahoo traffic didn't increase much, but my Google traffic tripled, which boosted my adsense. I made my $300 back in the next two months.

I am big on High Pr Home page links. I don't use services for this sort of thing though. I buy the domains myself and then just use them for the links.
I personally don't think people understand how much they are actually getting ripped off when paying for homepage links , especially when you consider how much High Pr Domains actually cost + hosting.
Of course no one wants the info to be shared because this is big business for some people but I may do a tut on this one day when I have some free time.
I buy domains from a friend of mine who is a broker and refuse to rent links out on them - but buying them from auctions is just as easy.
Problem with renting the links is the shitty content used.

I can't say how long it takes as I think each case may be different.
But for me it was exactly 7 days.

Mines was listed on a pr 4 page to start - but then I started to notice that your site actually ends up getting listed on quite a few different pages/categories with pr.
So far I have 3 pr 4s and 3 pr 3 listing that I know of.
I might go back and scan it just to be sure though.

Nice thread. Quite possibly thread of the month imo. My friend told me about the power of yahoo directory listing so this thread gave me the reminder I needed to capitalize.

Its 300 anually. I've heard (as people have said) that you can get away with not paying after the first year and stay listed. I wouldnt know as its my first year paying for it.
You can also submit sites from the UK.

You'd need to check their TOS, but you may find affiliate sites a tough sell.
I've only ever listed my 'branded' sites.

Not worth the investment even if you could get accepted imo . I would say only pay for the ydl if you are building an authority site.

As mirrorer mentioned, one of the rules to get accepted is: "The page may not give the search engine different content than what the end-user sees."
Do you think it's possible to cloak once the site has been reviewed?

I`ve got on top of a brand name in one niche, for 1 keyword. The website is registered in yahoo dir, I`m not. Maybe your whole work just paid off. But the point is that you got to #1 so good job.
