I've been told that I should set up a website using Joomla to make a site where I can sell my article writing service. At the moment I'm doing it all by email and things can get confusing! I've been told to get a ticket type system by using Joomla, only problem is I know NOTHING about Joomla!

So, what I'm basically asking is : is this easy to do? Or are there any alternatives (I'd love to use Wordpress).

Thanks!

Hi Cdman

I don't think that you have to use another cms than wordpress for this task - as we all know wordpress
offers a vast amount of plugins - if i had to setup a Article Writing Service Website
with integrated Ticketing System for the Customers I'd use the following plugins:

either

Free:
-WPSC Ticketing Module
-WP e-commerce

or

Paid:
- Shopp (55$)
- Zendesk (free)
- Shopp+Zendesk (free)

I hope i was able to help you

Cheers olystyle

I'd suggest you think about wordpress, as it's a lot easier. There's this theme called "boldy".. Very easy to edit. And, for a plugin u can checkout ecwid.com for a free wordpress plugin. It's an amazing tool that comes free. I'm not using it yet, but testing it on a new site I'm building in the same niche. And, everyone's who has seen the site, thinks I've spent some dough on the site, while I just built it in my free time with these 2 tools.

My suggestion if you don't know Joomla is learn before you try to earn with it. I also vote with WP, surely there are the plugins you need available.

I am learning Joomla, but word press is a snap by comparison, at least to me.

Thanks for the advice everyone :D

Will look in to those plugins soon!

You are in for a lot of competition this might give you an idea d1el.com
Seriously have you seen how many site are out there doing this.

Something like this? http://www.e-articlemarketingservice.com/

I got this website on Wordpress. !

Aww man. It's nice to see something that's similar to what I want.

Is that just a free theme? Any plugins etc?

Thanks a lot :D

Edit - although it doesn't have a ticket system and so on maybe I could add that myself? That site just looks neat :)

Just had a look at the boldly theme and it looks pretty good.

Might try that out. I like the way there's 3 boxes at the bottom as I want to do something like "3 easy steps to get articles" etc.

However, since they'll need to contact me for a quote I'm finding it hard to keep it at 3!

Right, I've decided not to take payments directly on the site (since I'll more than likely be banned on PayPal soon).

So I was thinking, maybe I should use a normal ticket system where I can talk with customers about their order. This needs to allow me to close a ticket, make the customer get an email when I reply and so on.

Any ideas?

I'm going to have to try get a lot of images to use on the site since the boldly theme seems to have a lot of images on the homepage. (which is good, but I'm crap with editing images and finding ones that aren't copyrighted).

How about this for some free images mate:

register on depositphotos.com with a paypal or CC for 7 days trial. You can download 5 high quality images per day. Cancel your subscription right before your trial ends, and you got 35 legit images. Rinse and repeat.. works a harm.

If u wanna take a look at what I' doing on my site, you can check out contentgenie.net. it's not complete yet, lots of grey areas.. But a decent idea on how the theme can be helpful.

That's pretty cool. I'll see about that but would rather not give anyone access to my PayPal acc or cc.

I like this theme and I'm ready to go, but I just can't get enough images to get it going :( I'm not great with images and I don't have photoshop or anything.

Anyone know a site that allows you to use their images for free?

Random question:

Anyone know a site that has free 960 x 370 px images just to use as a background?

Ie. I'll just put an image and text on top of it. Would like something in blue! But I know this is near impossible lol

if you need images, just go to istockphoto or any other simillar website, make a search and sort the images to most downloaded, choose an image and copy the URL, then go to tineye.com and paste the url there. Voila!

Is that a Blackhat way of going things though ;) ? Ha.

I'd rather do things right when it comes to images.

Update:

Got started on this earlier.

Got a few images done for it.

Trying to think of pages that I need, so far:

Reviews
Examples
FAQs
????
?????

I'm curious! Why do you think or believe that your PayPal will be getting banned soon?

Joined PayPal when I was under 18 and I'm over 18 now.

They want some documents since I'm starting to earn decent money :(
