I am the first one (idiot) who believe that SOPA will never pass.
If it pass, my profile will be deleted here and do you know who will report it to BHW ?
Ans : Jackson's Family for using his photo as my avatar.

The Jackson's are ruthless bro..... worse than anybody else...

hahahahahaha

SOPA and PIPA both suck bad. I hope they do not pass. This will f'ck up the hole internet. A small example: Say goodbye to reviews about products - You say something bad about a product (lets say movie or a game) and they smack you in the face with the copyright hammer. Say goodbye to diversity, reviews, oppinions and everything else.
Basically these both are hollywoods way of spoon feeding you their sh't and then crying to the authorities that you do not want any more of the turds they create. This will not make better movies, it will just allow hollywood to make more crappy movies that you can see because you might want to know more about the movie. Now you can not just click through it at home and decide if you like it, you have to go to the theater and watch the whole agonizing fag show. We need more piracy! The more we pirate - the better movies those fat cats need to make to lure us to the movies. Because at the moment we have the option to pass all the sh't they make, in the future we might not.

my 2c.

I know perfectly well what I am saying.
I live in the US. People here abide by those rules.

If 50% of the internet is delivering pirated content.... then half of the internet is going to get fuked.

And not.. they cannot apply this to MY sites... all my content is licensed.
All my images .... i have a license to use them.
I am not worried.

I want a free world.... but that does not mean I want my neighbor to come into my house and sell my stuff or give it away because he thinks things should be shared.

I want a free internet.... but not an internet running rampant with thieves...
thieves sharing pirated content in the name of "free internet" but at the same time them making money out of sharing... be it subscription or locked content.

I have no problem with sharing information freely---- as long as the information is yours.
Sharing other peoples hard work while you cash in---- that I am against.

I live in USA also, and no, they dont abide by the rules, the leaders make rules as they go along , apply the rules however they want it , and at time flat out break the rules.

If you think that every site that has pirated content on it needs to be fucked, then you dont really believe in a free internet. Almost very site in one way shape or form has borrowed content or associated to sites that do so.

Aint nobody running in your house and stealing and selling your stuff. The internet is fine the way it is, but greedy people seek to control all aspects of our existence.

If they will take down a community share site like MU, where will they stop? They will just find new reasons to take out other similar sites one by one.

More over, they will not stop at just pirated content. They will use there new powers to control information even more then they already do.

I see you support SOPA/PIPA, and thats good for you. If it continues like this maybe your business will survive the first or second wave, but rest assured you will one day be targeted by them no matter how white hat you think you are.

Freedom to the people!

Megaupload was not just a file sharing site.

It was a massive entity for storing and distributing pirated content.
Their business model was built around pirated content.
They plain out siphoned videos from youtube. They wanted to have a one-to-one video library with youtube.
Their server costs per year were into the millions....
Of course they had millions of subscribers.... because they were the netflix of pirated content.

If you take an ORIGINAL item from somebody else, that is stealing, and a crime. If you distribute a digital copy outside the wishes of the originator, it is NOT clear that digital copy is really 'owned" by somebody else in the first place, thus it is NOT clear it has been "stolen." Just because Big Corporate will CLAIM every single digital copy and every single form of transmission of digital copies is owned into perpetuity, does not establish that it is in FACT owned. Indeed, this only establishes that the business model of Big Corp is based on relentless presumption of ownership and perpetual exclusive distribution, and its employment of Big Brother to criminalize dissenters.

Piracy used to mean kidnapping, murder, and theft of concrete, original items on the high seas. "Piracy" as it is now used is a legal word of art to color any outside distribution of any copy in criminal terms. This theory is an invention of corporations, who think the government subsidy providing protection of every copy or distribution of works should be unlimited, international and perpetual in scope. Historically, copyright/IP was only intended to be a TEMPORARY and limited subsidy to grant publishers/exhibitors exclusive distribution, long enough to turn a profit. It was never intended to be ENDLESS and boundless license for companies to engage in one way capitalism, where they, and only they, get to 'own' or commercially control all the digital copies forever, and across all jurisdictions.

Megaupload has arguably done nothing wrong, in other words, and is not guilty of 'piracy' (at the very least, I haven't seen a jury conviction for such). Sharing files, or even commercially distributing copies in a foreign jurisdiction where there may not even be laws defining the activity as a crime, is NOT the same thing as kidnapping and murder on the high seas. It is simply not. Please stop it with the 'piracy' word games, the presumption of guilt on sites shut down without due process, the disregard for lack of jurisdiction, all of it. This and other related episodes show that at the rate we're going, the only way to pursue the omni-regulation of mythical perpetual distribution rights is to turn the entire planet into a closed state, where nobody has freedom because it might interfere with some corporation's bottom line.

I wonder why the old artists from the 70ies, 80ies and 90ies never fight the illegal music downoad. They could make thousands again. In days like these where no real artists exist anymore the fight about copying music is greater than in the old 'walkman' days, when cassettes were copied like crazy.

Maybe in the old days the companies hadn't reached the power level through lobbyism like today?!

Maybe artists are smarter (and richer) today!
It's not a crime to download, say musicians

Why are you spreading hysteria and mass disinformation.

No one is going to go for someone's shitty blog because they wrote a bad review ---- SOPA is not for that.
But if your blog has a copy of the movie..... then you will get fuked.

Hollywood sees it the other way around.
If you would STOP pirating all those movies and paying for them..
they would have more money to make better movies.

Now, who are you kidding.
If you are in the habit of pirating movies...
when someone tells you this movie is great....
You are not going to run and pay to see it...
you will run to find it free online.

but all that is going to change.

It will never change. People will always find the ways around. One simply can not control the internet.

Not just movies.

Federal authorities shut down one of the Web?s most popular sites Thursday on charges that it illegally shared movies, television shows and e-books, prompting hackers to retaliate by blocking access to several Web sites, including those of the Justice Department and Universal Music.

The shutdown of Megaupload was part of a federal indictment accusing the company of running an international criminal organization that allowed consumers to easily watch or share pirated content. The site?s offerings were a virtual bazaar of what the Internet has to offer, including pornography and illegally copied video games, federal officials said. In some cases, people could see movies before they were released in theaters.

Now this has made me seriously worry.. i wasn't minding SOPA shit until i read this megaupload incident.

Ehm? The US asked the authorities in NZ to arrest them and extradite the guys to the US... And that is exactly my point, the content was NOT only hosted in the US, some of it...

But none of the guys is actually a US citizen, they shouldn't be extradited just like that, we are talking about copyright claims and not murder!

You guys can not simply take people and trial them in the US when they are not US citizens... World Police

So the US claim copyright infringement and that is enough to justify an extradition for non US citizens to be trialed and put to jail inside the US? I don't think so!

The website operated world-wide! But the US of course claim a solitary exception, right? As always...

That's also why the official indictment says they have to forfeit ALL of their property to the United States Government... What a joke.

Unbelievable

Not being a citizen doesn't have anything to do with being exempt from the law of a nation. Its wasn't just file sharing it was piracy which is a big difference.

Then explain how movies like Avatar broke all the box office records.. people spent extra $ to see it in 3D...it is the most pirated movie too..

If u take Call Of Duty: MW3.. it earned 1 billion in just 1 week.. and it is one of the most pirated games too..

ur theory dont make any sense,,

I ll tell u why Hollywood is not making money, just see how many new movies are prequels, sequels and remakes . Hollywood ran out of ideas.. that what it is ..

Don't get me wrong, i don't support MU, but you should support closing down the Download Section too, because it's full of stolen content, if you're 100% against piracy.

I do not believe "free internet" means distributing and using someone else's work for my profit.

If seems users want to steal content and hide behind the veil of "Free Internet"

Free internet is free from censorship....
but that does not mean you are free to steal other people's content and profit from it.
You have rights to freedom, but your rights end where another persons rights to freedom begin.
Your rights to have content end where another persons right to own his content begins.

So what should a web site owner do if they need content??
Do the right thing and license it. Some licenses are as low as $1 for lifetime use..... but most people would not know--- because they have never licensed anything in their life.

They need an image--- and they go to google images--- and steal it.

Aint nobody running in your house and stealing and selling your stuff.

I have several AK-47s in my house.
GOD help them if they even try.

Since when does the theft of a product increase the products revenue..... never.

My theory is sound.

They would of made way more than that if no pirating had occurred.
How can you argue with that.

It was mass pirating running rampant and out of control.

lol??? No its not. Its not a geographic tld. :pat:

Verisign owns .com and they are an American registered company headquartered in America, therefore a .com is us based property.

To the person saying SOPA would have ended reviews,it would not have not, there was nothing in SOPA about making it illegal to give a bad review. SOPA would have made it a felony to use something without paying a license fee of at least $2,500. A review does not require a license, and neither does reporting about something.
