In my experience there's a much higher percentage of people with ADHD, who are self-employed, than the percentage among those holding regular dayjobs.

So let's raise some hands here, who's got ADHD? I do. :)

I always thought i had mild ADHD but never got checked out. Growing out of it a lot now but i still have a short temper, fidgety all the time, never stop talking, can't listen to people talk about shite without thinking up weird scenarios in my head :') Although to be honest i'd probably do that last one anyway because it's hilarious sometimes.

See how many of these fit you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adhd#Signs_and_symptoms

See how many of these fit you:

Be easily distracted, miss details, forget things, and frequently switch from one activity to another

Become bored with a task after only a few minutes, unless doing something enjoyable

Not seem to listen when spoken to

Daydream

Fidget and squirm in their seats

Talk nonstop

touching or playing with anything and everything in sight

Be very impatient

Blurt out inappropriate comments, show their emotions without restraint, and act without regard for consequences

Yup, nearly all of them haha

Never got checked out by a doctor, was never bothered by it enough. I'm an adult now and i guess i just learned to live with it :) My friends and my girlfriend see it more as personality traits than they do an illness and it doesn't bother me at all :D

I still think ADHD is a marketing trick to sell those pills. Its not a real disease. 50% of Earth's population has those symptoms.

Me too. But i am a bit better now after doing meditation for the past few months. And having ADHD is not all that bad. You get some + sides too. Nice to see some fellow ADHDers.

Just a question how many of you like Games and Action movies?
I do. ( Out of Curiousity).

I play online chess when ADHD kicks in and I lose my focus..

It helps after a couple games I am perfectly focused again...

Very mild but I do, yep. I am trying to focus on one thing at a time these days and it is helping a little. The biggest problem is I tend to forget quite a lot.

I have started using to-do list managers as a part of my day-to-day activity, have blocked out most social networks and other such distractions, check e-mail only three-four times a day (instead of watching it like a hawk!). I have become more organized though I'm still distracted in between work!

Yeah I feel in love with games real early in life. It started with nintendo and magic the gathering. I am 27 now and still play tons of poker and Modern warfare3.

I don't take meds I mostly self medicate with coffee and pot :)

I don't think i do, but when i was younger my parents thought i did and wanted to hey look! a squirrel!!

I do and it makes this work so difficult. I can't take meds for it because I take other meds for other stuff. Fucking sucks.

Don't forget to check this Southpark episode on the issue :D

A definite MUST on ADD :) (you 'll die laughing :D)

Here 's an excerpt from Wikipedia
In 2009, the British Psychological Society, in collaboration with the Royal College of Psychiatrists, released a set of guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD.[184] In its guideline, it state that available evidence indicate that ADHD is a valid diagnosis. However, it states that the diagnosis lack any biological basis and that "[c]ontroversial issues surround changing thresholds applied to the definition of illness as new knowledge and treatments are developed and the extent to which it is acknowledged that clinical thresholds are socially and culturally influenced and determine how an individual's level of functioning within the 'normal cultural environment' is assessed". It further states that "the acceptable thresholds for impairment are partly driven by the contemporary societal view of what is an acceptable level of deviation from the norm."

This is a fine summary of why I think this is a let's-grab-more-money-by-making-policies-and-selling-drugs marketing hype. :)
