4HWW is *NOT* a scam. It's a life changing book, and not only was it recommended to me a fellow marketing colleague a couple of years ago, but so many of my marketing friends have talked about it.
It's so useful for marketers too, since we're in a perfect position to implement the style of running a business, or "owning" a business, that he talks about.
It's not a "money making guide". It's for people who already are making money. It's more of a philosophy book with some practical tips.
Some people here don't seem to like it, and if they want to cling to hard work then that's their choice.
But even if you want to build a multi-million dollar business you won't do it by micro-managing everything. The best business people have everything in place run by others. That's what the book is about.
I am a stay at home mom of 4 (soon to be 5)
Wow, so you're one of those stay at home moms we see all over the internet with perfect white teeth, getting big cheques from google and staying slim from acai berries! Hi!
No I read his book in a day dude, I'm talking about him simplifying everything to a level where he makes things sound so easy. I'm not so easily fooled, but I feel for others who have read his book and believed they can make 40k a week by coming up with some shitty niche product and using adwords, it's fucking bullshit.
Wait, have you actually read the book? THAT is the message you got from it? That he's teaching people how to make 40k a week on adwords?
For starters he says he makes 60-80k/mo himself, not 40k/week. There's a section in the book that talks about product selection and sale, but that's only one small part of the book. There's a chapter on how to live the lifestyle if you're currently working in an office.
The book is NOT a money making guide. It's a philosophy about how to live your life to get the max enjoyment instead of worrying about either making millions or saving up till retirement.
Besides, you're telling us that it's not possible to develop a product and sell it on adwords? Are you serious? If it wasn't possible then google would be out of business pretty fast.
Just because YOU can't pick a product, develop it and sell it on adwords doesn't mean tim ferris is a scammer and the concept is a scam.
You just seem to me like another guy from the "blame culture". The world owes me a living! I'm ANGRY because the book I read didn't make me 40k/week! Boo hoo.
I've always believed that kind of lifestyle is possible and I was glad I read 4hww as it confirmed to me that it is possible, but his writting style really does make things sound much easier than they are. I was rather he was like some of the guys here and said- "yeah it's possible, but it's hard work all the way, just don't give up" or something along those lines, cos I'm extremely resilient, and i find it hard to swallow when he says certain things that people who try to achieve this lifestyle who aren't quite as resilient will read his book, fail and give up for ever .
This is what I mean, man. You need to get rid of this "the world owes me" attitude. He's not there to cater to your skepticism about being able to live the lifestyle. To him it *IS* easy. He's a high energy and VERY positive guy. Things just magically happen for him, and they magically happen BECAUSE he's so positive and believes. If you don't believe, then it's not his job to convince you, he's just sharing his experiences, what he does and what works.
If you need someone to convince you, then the book, or any other book isn't for you. If you need someone to coach you with "It's hard work, but don't give up", then business isn't for you either. You're better off working for an employer who's going to be able to give you a monthly paycheque, and keep you motivated.
I am bitter, and jealous. Simply due to the fact I didn't do what he did first. Simples, and to however neg repped me, thank you. Free speech at it's best
Calling people cocksuckers is free speech? Hm, interesting. Sounds like verbal abuse to me.
Timothy Ferris is A TOTAL liar. And I'm serious about it.
You will have a lot of guys defending him if you criticize Tim. But that doesn't change the truth.
If you search Google, you are gonna find some posts from people who have work with him, telling that http://blog.penelopetrunk.com/2009/01/08/5-time-management-tricks-i-learned-from-years-of-hating-tim-ferriss/. He works A LOT.
Again, you've missed the point of the book. He's a BRILLIANT marketer. He was trained by one of the top marketers/copywriters there is. Everything in business is marketing, it doesn't matter how good it is, if you can't market your business won't succeed.
"4 hour work week" is just a title. No one smart enough to get something from this book actually focuses on the 4 hour part. The point is to simply reduce your working hours.
For many 40 hours a week would be wonderful compared with the 70+ some work.
For others 20 hours a week is nice. The figure doesn't matter, it's about reducing your hours and trimming the fat from your business. I personally wouldn't enjoy 4 hours a week. For me 20-25 hours a week is ideal, BUT, having the freedom to reduce it to 1 hour a week if I want to without the business falling apart is key. I wouldn't want to run a business that needs me to micro manage it every day and the moment I step away it falls apart.
I want to be able to go away for 3 months and when I come back the business is still ticking over.
WHAT the *FUCK*. Before I read this I just thought you were a typical 'needie' type, but now I see you're a complete clown. You're from a "scientific background" and you're saying doing reps till failure can tear your muscles and ligaments to pieces? What a load of utter crock.
That's what bodybuilders do every time they go to the gym. Train to failure. It's not the LEAST bit dangerous. Power lifting is more dangerous where you're lifting near 90% 1rm for 2-3 reps and not going to failure, but having a strong base prevents injuries in 99.9% of cases.
The moment you spouted crap about reps till failure being dangerous was the moment you gave yourself away as being a complete clown, and in fact you're a charlatan yourself. Personally I've never seen anyone with a scientific background type like a 10 year old either.
For all the guys saying this guy's a legend etc why not spend some time reading about real legends who actually speak the truth then you might learn something. Speak to some REAL business men and women, some REAL scientists and you'll soon realise that this is absolute bollocks. Sorry to destroy your 4HWW mentality but reality is tough and mock me how you will but you'll soon realise that he is probably reading this thread and laughing. At the suckers (myself inculded) that bought into this bullshit
wtf are you talking about? Why do WE need to read anything from "real" business people? We're not the ones who are having trouble building a business here. Maybe make some money first before you start giving advice about what does and doesn't work, eh?
Jesus man, haha how many times do I need to fucking tell you. Also I wasn't calling members cocksucker, I was calling you a cocksucker , I swear to god I would love to sew up your mothers cunt.
*blink* You just get worse the more I read. IamNRE is one of our most respected and helpful contributors and you're talking to him like that? You won't last very long around here speaking to respected members like that.
There are literally millions of people saying the lord Jesus Christ gave them money, or the strength to leave drugs, or almost anything you would think of. And you can apply that to any god, myth or superstition that has ever existed.
Stop bringing religion into this. Your anti-religious comments are offensive to many and irrelevant to the conversation.
This discusion has no end. But I believe (on a personal level) that understanding of racional thinking and skepticism is gonna keep growing in the world. Some day, one guy is gonna be checking Internet archives, see this conversation an say: "LOL. Our grand-grand-parents were so dumb".
I agree. They're going to wonder why people couldn't spell basic words like "rational", and why you were referring to great great grandparents as grand-grand-parents. :hmmm:
I have done SEO for some of these "self made millionairs" and I can tell you they were all LIARS! Pictures of their luxury cars....laying on beach...huge houses...all Bullshit! Accept this as introductory into IM ---> the good, bad and ugly! And move on.
So because you've done SEO for a few guys trying to launch a "Money making" product you're saying that no one in IM is making money? Okay.
