Jesus man, haha how many times do I need to fucking tell you. Also I wasn't calling members cocksucker, I was calling you a cocksucker , I swear to god I would love to sew up your mothers cunt.

I dare you say that to my face. And see what I will do to you. You little pff. boy.

99lives @ I suggest you leave religion out of your thesis, less you want to get banned.

Am not interested in arguing with you guys.

You clearly have your mind made up and there is no changing that. Some people are just think.

Mungus seems to be the kind of idiot that would go and pay $50K in tuition fees and spend 4 year to study a subject... lets say law. Then after the 4 years are done he just passes the bar and spend the next 2 years looking for a job, but does not get one. SO he goes back to the college and sues them coz they scammed him, even though others did the same course and got a good job from it.

Just a moron!

OP banned for being abusive.

I'm leaving the thread open so when he returns he can explain to me just wtf this thread has to do with BHW, failure to explain will earn the op a further weeks ban.

4HWW? LOL!

I have this book and all I have to say is F that.

Hardwork till you die! There ain't any other way.

Tim Ferriss is a genius. His book changed my life.

Actually I launched my software company after reading his book. It definitely works, but you need to take action. And you don't start out working 4 hours a week.

I pull it back out every few months and read it again. It's an amazing book, with tons of information. While you're at it, check out Four Hour Body by him. Another great read.

Of course he's for real. He's traveled all over the world, makes a ton of money, and does some pretty awesome things. Just read the first few pages and you'll see what I mean.

He invests in tons of large companies and is all over the tech scene in San Francisco.

Maybe it's a man crush, but he knows what's going on. Check out his blog at fourhourworkweek dot com.

And if you haven't heard of him yet, go get the book. It will change your life.

>

And Mini Retirements are the coolest thing ever. I took one earlier this year down to a beach house in Mexico. Why wait until the end of your life?

And 34 pounds of muscle in 30 days. Check it out, he tracks everything. He has all the data.

The 15 minute female orgasm is also a great read.

I am calling BS on this one! What a crock of shit!

Timothy Ferris is A TOTAL liar. And I'm serious about it.

You will have a lot of guys defending him if you criticize Tim. But that doesn't change the truth.

If you search Google, you are gonna find some posts from people who have work with him, telling that he doesn't work 4 hours a week. He works A LOT.

He didn't achieve almost anything he claims hi did. Some of them, he did. But because he lies SO hard on a lot of them (like he was a ?guest lecturer? at Princeton), all the crap get's mixed with the little truths. And I'm not even mentioning that all the reviews he got from his book when it was released were fake. Everybody knows that.

He wasn't making too much money with BranQuicken. Not nearly what he was claiming. And tjis is really important.

Before starting applying his methods, I went to Google and perform a basic search. Back then, he wasn't such a big star, so you could find a lot of great info easily, like the "unsupported claims" section on wikipedia (that's gets deleted over and over for guys that are great at wikipedia's rules). I also saw a video testimonial of him BEFORE 4HWW... you have to see it.

What I'm trying to say here is that Timothy Ferriss it a great self-marketer. But his "system" does not work. And that it's what matter to us.
Every time you criticize a self help guru, you are going to get a rant from a lot of people saying "he is the real deal, I just work 4 hours per week and I make 40k". But that's a lie too.
He might be "inspiring" (if that inspire you), but so is religion. And we all know they are both a lie.

Inspiration, sometime, can be found in a turd. So you can take what the book may have give you: you don't have to ask for permission to work less, outsource, etc. That did nothing for me, cause I already knew that (and I was doing it), but not all of us start from the same place.

You lost some time. I'm sorry. But a lot of us chase the wrong star at a point in our life. It's not that terrible. Rant, relax and move on.

A big hug (a manly hug).

Great comment. I even gave you thanks for this contribution. 99.999% of all these guys who say they make a shit load of money sitting on their ass is a big fat lie. You have sort through all the crap to find out the truth.

I have done SEO for some of these "self made millionairs" and I can tell you they were all LIARS! Pictures of their luxury cars....laying on beach...huge houses...all Bullshit! Accept this as introductory into IM ---> the good, bad and ugly! And move on.

I think the negative commenters in this thread REALLY need to change their attitudes before even attempting to read much less implement a theory like this.

Fuckin jokers

Come back in 18 months time once you are making 40k a month with you Tim Ferriss styled "Muse". *yawn*

That book is a tool like any other, it matters how you use it. Well at least he found BHW because of it...

Ferriss is constructing a "narrative" (a story, legend, some may call it religion for the lack of better word). People want something to believe in, and they get it. Well, I apologise - they BUY it. It's that simple. Have a look at Hugh McLeod (Gapingthevoid) - he is doing exactly the same, but at least he is absolutely honest what is he doing, and why is doing that.

Whether Ferriss is lying it's actually completely irrelevant. Some believers are going to be turned into non-believers, but most of them will not learn how to spot the trick next time.

There are a few hard-hitting concepts that can be picked up in this book. And if you use pareto's principle.. you'll even realize that 30% of his book is gold, and the rest is fluff and motivation. Using the 20-80 principle in life is one of the main points that I loved and try to implement every day. It really makes sense. You only have so much time and your focus is your main tool.

Of course his book is hyped up like no other. Of course the total sum of his main points could be summed up on the first page. Of course his goal was to gain a league of followers and crowdsourcers through a narrative that people can vibe with. Genius on his part. But on a forum full of marketers, I would figure you guys would understand. Funny how that works.

4HWW is *NOT* a scam. It's a life changing book, and not only was it recommended to me a fellow marketing colleague a couple of years ago, but so many of my marketing friends have talked about it.

It's so useful for marketers too, since we're in a perfect position to implement the style of running a business, or "owning" a business, that he talks about.

It's not a "money making guide". It's for people who already are making money. It's more of a philosophy book with some practical tips.

Some people here don't seem to like it, and if they want to cling to hard work then that's their choice.

But even if you want to build a multi-million dollar business you won't do it by micro-managing everything. The best business people have everything in place run by others. That's what the book is about.

I am a stay at home mom of 4 (soon to be 5)

Wow, so you're one of those stay at home moms we see all over the internet with perfect white teeth, getting big cheques from google and staying slim from acai berries! Hi! ;)

No I read his book in a day dude, I'm talking about him simplifying everything to a level where he makes things sound so easy. I'm not so easily fooled, but I feel for others who have read his book and believed they can make 40k a week by coming up with some shitty niche product and using adwords, it's fucking bullshit.

Wait, have you actually read the book? THAT is the message you got from it? That he's teaching people how to make 40k a week on adwords?

For starters he says he makes 60-80k/mo himself, not 40k/week. There's a section in the book that talks about product selection and sale, but that's only one small part of the book. There's a chapter on how to live the lifestyle if you're currently working in an office.

The book is NOT a money making guide. It's a philosophy about how to live your life to get the max enjoyment instead of worrying about either making millions or saving up till retirement.

Besides, you're telling us that it's not possible to develop a product and sell it on adwords? Are you serious? If it wasn't possible then google would be out of business pretty fast.

Just because YOU can't pick a product, develop it and sell it on adwords doesn't mean tim ferris is a scammer and the concept is a scam.

You just seem to me like another guy from the "blame culture". The world owes me a living! I'm ANGRY because the book I read didn't make me 40k/week! Boo hoo.

I've always believed that kind of lifestyle is possible and I was glad I read 4hww as it confirmed to me that it is possible, but his writting style really does make things sound much easier than they are. I was rather he was like some of the guys here and said- "yeah it's possible, but it's hard work all the way, just don't give up" or something along those lines, cos I'm extremely resilient, and i find it hard to swallow when he says certain things that people who try to achieve this lifestyle who aren't quite as resilient will read his book, fail and give up for ever .

This is what I mean, man. You need to get rid of this "the world owes me" attitude. He's not there to cater to your skepticism about being able to live the lifestyle. To him it *IS* easy. He's a high energy and VERY positive guy. Things just magically happen for him, and they magically happen BECAUSE he's so positive and believes. If you don't believe, then it's not his job to convince you, he's just sharing his experiences, what he does and what works.

If you need someone to convince you, then the book, or any other book isn't for you. If you need someone to coach you with "It's hard work, but don't give up", then business isn't for you either. You're better off working for an employer who's going to be able to give you a monthly paycheque, and keep you motivated.

I am bitter, and jealous. Simply due to the fact I didn't do what he did first. Simples, and to however neg repped me, thank you. Free speech at it's best

Calling people cocksuckers is free speech? Hm, interesting. Sounds like verbal abuse to me.

Timothy Ferris is A TOTAL liar. And I'm serious about it.

You will have a lot of guys defending him if you criticize Tim. But that doesn't change the truth.

If you search Google, you are gonna find some posts from people who have work with him, telling that http://blog.penelopetrunk.com/2009/01/08/5-time-management-tricks-i-learned-from-years-of-hating-tim-ferriss/. He works A LOT.

Again, you've missed the point of the book. He's a BRILLIANT marketer. He was trained by one of the top marketers/copywriters there is. Everything in business is marketing, it doesn't matter how good it is, if you can't market your business won't succeed.

"4 hour work week" is just a title. No one smart enough to get something from this book actually focuses on the 4 hour part. The point is to simply reduce your working hours.

For many 40 hours a week would be wonderful compared with the 70+ some work.

For others 20 hours a week is nice. The figure doesn't matter, it's about reducing your hours and trimming the fat from your business. I personally wouldn't enjoy 4 hours a week. For me 20-25 hours a week is ideal, BUT, having the freedom to reduce it to 1 hour a week if I want to without the business falling apart is key. I wouldn't want to run a business that needs me to micro manage it every day and the moment I step away it falls apart.

I want to be able to go away for 3 months and when I come back the business is still ticking over.

WHAT the *FUCK*. Before I read this I just thought you were a typical 'needie' type, but now I see you're a complete clown. You're from a "scientific background" and you're saying doing reps till failure can tear your muscles and ligaments to pieces? What a load of utter crock.

That's what bodybuilders do every time they go to the gym. Train to failure. It's not the LEAST bit dangerous. Power lifting is more dangerous where you're lifting near 90% 1rm for 2-3 reps and not going to failure, but having a strong base prevents injuries in 99.9% of cases.

The moment you spouted crap about reps till failure being dangerous was the moment you gave yourself away as being a complete clown, and in fact you're a charlatan yourself. Personally I've never seen anyone with a scientific background type like a 10 year old either.

For all the guys saying this guy's a legend etc why not spend some time reading about real legends who actually speak the truth then you might learn something. Speak to some REAL business men and women, some REAL scientists and you'll soon realise that this is absolute bollocks. Sorry to destroy your 4HWW mentality but reality is tough and mock me how you will but you'll soon realise that he is probably reading this thread and laughing. At the suckers (myself inculded) that bought into this bullshit

wtf are you talking about? Why do WE need to read anything from "real" business people? We're not the ones who are having trouble building a business here. Maybe make some money first before you start giving advice about what does and doesn't work, eh?

Jesus man, haha how many times do I need to fucking tell you. Also I wasn't calling members cocksucker, I was calling you a cocksucker , I swear to god I would love to sew up your mothers cunt.

*blink* You just get worse the more I read. IamNRE is one of our most respected and helpful contributors and you're talking to him like that? You won't last very long around here speaking to respected members like that.

There are literally millions of people saying the lord Jesus Christ gave them money, or the strength to leave drugs, or almost anything you would think of. And you can apply that to any god, myth or superstition that has ever existed.

Stop bringing religion into this. Your anti-religious comments are offensive to many and irrelevant to the conversation.

This discusion has no end. But I believe (on a personal level) that understanding of racional thinking and skepticism is gonna keep growing in the world. Some day, one guy is gonna be checking Internet archives, see this conversation an say: "LOL. Our grand-grand-parents were so dumb".

I agree. They're going to wonder why people couldn't spell basic words like "rational", and why you were referring to great great grandparents as grand-grand-parents. :hmmm:

I have done SEO for some of these "self made millionairs" and I can tell you they were all LIARS! Pictures of their luxury cars....laying on beach...huge houses...all Bullshit! Accept this as introductory into IM ---> the good, bad and ugly! And move on.

So because you've done SEO for a few guys trying to launch a "Money making" product you're saying that no one in IM is making money? Okay.

[sarcasm]Presidents and Fortune 500 companies should definitely read 4HWW. It teaches so much about marketing, philosophy and Science. It's so profound! So perfect!
[/sarcasm]

People can enjoy and be "inspired" by any book. If this one did it for you, we can't argue about that, cause that's your opinion. We can only argue about FACTS. And a very important part of the "facts" Tim Ferriss mentions on his book have been proven false. So, the classical "but that doesn't matter, what matters is the intention/message/concept/mana" is wrong. You can't prove a claim thought evidence and, when that evidence is proven false, add "but the claim is valid, you just have to get the message!".

"He is a great marketer, you have to admit that". Of course he is! Dah! That's not the point and has never been. You can read a book about marketing from the Marketing God and is still going to suck if the information is a lie. Guess what: if he said "I made so much money with my dietary complement company and let me show you how" and then we discover he was not making even a tenth of that... all the techniques, arguments and ideas he is trying to prove are invalid. That is like Science 101.

Just to conclude: nobody can stop you from lovind this book, being inspired by or, even, making millions from it. Let me add: that would be GREAT. But that's you. Cause, for another person, a Julio Verne's novel, an Edgar Alan Poe short story, a Playboy magazine or a koran could do the same. If you can't prove your claims, they are just an opinion. And I don't give a shit about your fanatic, self-help-junkie opinions. Bring some evidence to the table or go read "Men are from mars women are from venus".

PS: English is not my first language (as many of the blackhatters here). Trying to "destroy" and argument by attacking my spelling is as lame as it gets. And it's called argumentum ad hominem.

No, "Ad Hominem" is a logical fallacy where one party tries to win the argument by attacking the other person. I'm not trying to win any argument with you. I was simply pointing out the irony of your closing statement.

There are two (simplifying) types of people in this world. "Intuitive" people and "Sensing" people (google mbti). We both have our strengths, but "intuits" can run off strictly theory and ideas if it matches up to our models of reality, whereas "senors" absolutely need the physical facts.

This is where I think people bump heads when it comes to this book, it's NOT the end-all be-all. One does NOT follow Tim step-by-step and live 18 months of your life by it mungus. You pick up the valuable information, and move on.

A few of the tricks I'm going to use from the book include "becoming an expert" in my field and also extensive use of Pareto's Principle.

OPEN up your minds!

EDIT: And those of us into self help rather work ourselves over than spend $$$ that only treats the symptoms not the source...

This is REALLY insightful stuff!! I've never thought of things like that, but it's so true and it's why I love Tim's book so much. It just *feels* right. I don't need or care about proof of his income, because whether he was making $80k/month or $8k/mo, it really doesn't matter. I got something that benefited my life from the book and THAT is all that matters.

Blue Turtle- Firstly , this thread was put to bed ages ago. However given that you have kindly gone to such great lengths to attempt to de-construct my argument piece by piece I'll respectfully respond. With regards to 4HR Body, reps until failure can do serious damage if your form isn't perfect. He briefly mentions this in the book itself you fool.I have nothing against new excersise fads etc but I'm simply saying I doubt his "results" and "experiments" etc hold much weight in the scientific community and if you've ever witnessed a horrific injury in the gym through poor technique you wouldn't be so quick to spout your absolute nonsense. You're the one who is clueless and pretending you even have a clue about this subject is just hilarious to be honest.

My main point relating to the 4hww is that it's a sham, nothing more than a feel good self help guide, albeit a very positive and helpfully (in terms of setting ones frame of mind). I personally didn't go down the route of trying to execute what he was suggesting in the book therefore I didn't struggle to get my "muse" off the ground,or "think of any ideas" however I have witnessed people losing their families and the shirts off their back by subscribing to such charmers as this guy. Also, the "writing like a ten year old" comment, shows exactly where your at. Seriously, get off IamNRE's dick, this discussion is over. I wanted to open a healthy debate on Tim Ferriss' ideas but people like you have to jump in and spit your frustration at the world. I don't feel like the world owes me anything, it's simply my opinion that the guy is a liar and if you look deep enough you can see alot of the negative effects on people guys like this can have. Have you read the book "The Secret" ? Well 4HWW is the business equivalent if you like. Feel free to carry on your daily life with your "think positive and the whole universe will provide for me attitude." Me personally, I choose not to live in the land of the fucking fairies, I make a decision, take action, if it fails I alter what I'm doing to make it work and I don't stop until I succeed. That's all there is to success. Just be sure you don't drag your friends ,family, loved ones and pretty much everyone else down with you when your repeated failures fail to take a turn for the better, something Mr. Ferriss fails to mention in his oh so wonderful little book.

i don't even know who tim ferris is i only know neil strauss and i can tell fo sure that this guy is a fake ass mofucker!

his writing has become fame as fuck in the US hasn't it? in germany for example not everyone is aware of strauss that scamming ****
