This is when Fiverr sucks

Now mind you, I don't blame Fiverr... but it sucks when this happens:

We have been informed by PayPal that a dispute was opened for your order #**********: run you a comp*** ****** ******* for your website. As a result we are forced to cancel this order and ask that you discontinue your work.

Please note that in some cases disputes are nothing more than temporary holds that PayPal puts on funds to make sure that they were authorized by the buyer. The dispute does not indicate that the buyer initiated it.

If the dispute gets resolved, the buyer will be offered to reorder your gig.

This guy ordered 8 gigs, and after I completed all of them... paypal put a hold on all the payments. It's only $32.. but damn.. this is when Fiverr sucks. Appears he does SEO for people, I should contact all the website owners he put in the gig and tell them...... . .. ... .. Naw.. i'll go focus on making money

You are right. Gotta cut your losses sometimes. I do it with crappy ebay buyers that try to pull scams. Not worth the time or effort.

If they're not satisfied with the gig, just refund them and tell them to fuck off. No point in risking your PayPal account over some dickwad who'd probably not be satisfied no matter what you did.

Pity there isn't a Fiverr Buyer shit list thread so we know what a-holes to watch out for.

And I don't see anything wrong with contacting the website owners. He could have done the right thing and contacted you first if he had an issue. But he didn't, he went straight to PayPal knowing that'll result in a loss of earnings for you. Hit em back, not for revenge, but just so he'll think twice about doing it again.

It only takes a couple of minutes to send an e-mail, then you can go back to focusing on making bank.

That's kinda the point, having a marketplace to sell your services... That IS a benefit.

I would definitely go to the web sites and tell them what happened. They may even come to you to get additional work done in the future. At least you will cut him off from any additional work from those clients.

Tbh it isn't really Fiverrs fault, it's Paypals or the buyers fault. What do you expect Fiverr to do, when Paypal or the buyer cancels the payment? They take the money away from Fiverr, so Fiverr takes it away from you. That's understandable, isn't it?
But I understand where you coming from. It's a shame that Paypal allows people to cancel payments for no reason and never cares to interview the seller. I know that would cause a horrible amount of workload for Paypal, but you can't just refund anything without proof.

Because there aren't any decent alternatives, which are as widely used as PayPal. EVERYONE has PayPal. Very few people have anything else. You'd have to turn down a lot of business if you can't pay/get paid by PayPal.

If you have something people really want, but they can't use the payment method you accept, then the overwhelming majority of them will be too lazy to set up a new account. Just like they're too lazy to switch from PayPal to a different payment method.

You can always use 2checkout, so that you will accept cc & paypal and maybe some more. However, 2checkout sucks in resolving chargebacks.

Sorry to hear that pal! I know exactly how that feels. It's not just the loss of money, but the fact that someone cheated you when you put in a lot of hard work into an order. But I am sure you will get better at pre-qualifying customers before you take up their orders in the future. Can you not review the buyer's history before you take up their work?
