as the title suggests i have no idea about any other search engine apart from google but im getting fed up of the google dance and treating us like kids in the sandbox. So i want to know how powerfull msn and yahoo search engines are and how do i go about ranking top or at least high in them? (and without damaging google rankings maybe?)

thanks in advance people

I second the question. I can't figure MSN out to save my life. I'm ranked #22 in Google, #3 in Yahoo and #127 for my search term. what does MSN hold weight to that the others don't?

Recently... I had a website created...did quite a few article submissions through Unique article wizard. It worked well for google...but I didn't see much in MSN and Yahoo...both indexed just 2 pages out of my 15 pages.
I then did some blog commenting...luckily for one of the blogs...I got into the "recent comments" section thus...getting a backlink from all the pages.
My Yahoo inlinks got over 2k...and within days I started ranking in Yahoo and MSN.
My understanding now is that yahoo and MSN are more concerned with the number of backlinks rather than the quality.

I have rankings in MSN and Yahoo on some sites and some other sites not. I have no idea how I'm achieving this or how I can duplicate the result.

This thread makes me realize something - Google for all it's sandboxes and funny ways is much more predictable than those 2. If I build links for long enough, with variation and some quality, I will rank on page 1 eventually. I've never failed to rank when I did this adn put enough time into it (which I won't do nowadays).

And in Google there are certain methods such as using authority sites like Squidoo which work like clockwork.

I used to get top positions on msn with pretty much anything, I loved the traffic even though it was a bit low.
They have changed something and I am having hard time getting my sites indexed/deepcrawled there. Anyone know good tricks to get deepcrawled by msnbot?
When msnbot visits my sites it just crawls the index page and something one or two other pages and lists just index, and it doesnt rank those sites well.
And I have a lot of good links pointing to those sites.
The only thing that gets deepcrawled and listed fast are my live spaces sites.
Anyone have idea how to get msnbot go crazy on your site?

Forgot to add that in past I always got my sites listed very fast and rank high using the mymsn page to search my own feed couple of times, until it founds it. It always resulted in msnbot to give visit and crawl, but it doesnt work anymore.
Anyone have similar trick that still works?

Hi
I tend to build sites for Google, and a separate one for MSN. Just get a ton of links as fast as you like for MSN, its always worked for me. Unless anything has changed - a link is a link to them.

Sean

So, how fast can you get new domain deeplisted? How many links you are getting?
As I have build exclusive for msn and tried all kinds of link amounts.
But something seems strange, I have no problems getting msnbot-media to crawl all pages, but msnbot just does not crawl.
I am getting really frustrated with it.

if you look at the msnloophole method that came out, that covered lots of stuff. But it was using a blog farm.

I use trackback spider, and also those offers at DP - place your article on 500 sites with two links per article $10, they work as MSN seems to count anything as a link. I bought a domain last week for a very comp term, and just did the article thing and already I am page two, confident I'll be page one next week. MSN likes keyword domains, and sma;ll sites for some reason.

I'm going off google!!! Never thought I would say that.

Sean

I have read the msnloophole and all, but it isnt helping. I set up 50 blogs to 10 money sites across 10 c class and 20 ips and build natural links to all of them, but I am not getting those domains crawled or indexed. Something is fucked up now.
I am still making low three figures/day from around 50 domains set up over 2 years ago only for msn, which had pretty much no links pointing to them.
I know how to do the onpage seo for msn and I know it matters a lot on msn. I see nice ranking from domains with literally no backlinks, but good onpage seo and relevant domain.
Maybe I am facing some sort of penalty, not sure.
But if I dont crack this fast, Im going to poorhouse.

MSN has a webmasters section so you can check your sites (I am guessing you know this, as I only found out a few days ago). They can block sites, or at least their is a icon in the webmasters section.

I tried the blog farm thing and got the blogs indexed using badass rss, maybe try that as MSN seems to like feedage (or so I have been told).

I could send you some links via TS if that helps?

Sean

Yes, I have tried also MSN webmaster tools on some sites, and that says blocked:no.
I have done rss submissions and social bookmarking by hand, but I guess I could give badass rss a try.
If you have some useful links, please send.
Thanks man!

if you want to send me (PM) your url and I have a fairly relevant category kin trackback I can send some links to your site. I have found this a fast way of getting indexed as well.

Thanks for help, but I will check out that program myself.
Can you please tell me if the domains you got deepcrawled were brand new domains?
It seems I am having hard time getting new domains indexed.

I'm building small sites right now, and they are taking about 10 days to appear in the MSN index.

Sean

My experience.. Google crawl is fastest than another, even I don't ping my mass blog
Just create mass article and baclink, they will be indexed soon or later

i always tend to build for google serps however one thing i have noticed that works for yahoo is having your keywords in your domain name, they appear to put more emphasis on that than google does thats for sure - i have several niche websites with the exact term as the domain name and they are all placed on the first page of yahoo if not position 1?!?!?

the new sites are all white hat with all usual onsite optimization and a little grey hat offsite opti

i doubt this would work in an extremely competitive market and against well established sites but im not complaining about my current SERPS in yahoo thats for sure! :)

as far as the other SE's are concerned i dont even bother with them although some are independent there are a lot that will display you in their SERPS just because your listed on dmoz, yahoo, and google - not to mention a lot of the SB sites

i rank number 2 in msn for my keyword. for the same keyword, im nowhere near page 10 in google.

for that site of mine all i did was blog commenting on do-follow blogs, msn tends to like that

I assume you mean commenting on someone else's blog.
Do you mean just one comment on someone else's blog got you over 2k backlinks (I assume because that comment was featured on over 2k pages on their blog)?

Were the blogs relevant to your keyword or not?
