Closing Off BHW From The World

Somebody already mentioned it, and if the decision will be to charge a fee, BHW should get rid of the download forum, because that may cause a lot of legal problems (it can be interpreted like charging a fee to download copyrighted materials).

Now I also do not like these people that create hundreds of how do I make money thread, but a strict moderation would be needed. Anybody making stupid posts, getting a warn, after 3 warns maybe a permanent ban. That would be productive, though an on-going effort by the mods.

One of the best ideas I have read is limiting the download sections and/or making money section to either jr.vip or keeping it out of the search engines.

I think that is the one main idea(downloads to jr. vip only) most would agree with and its very easy to implement.

I'm a newbie, and I have learn a lot from this place, I really love this place, but still I can't pay any fee because I use black hat technique not for internet money, but for promoting my client website. I get no money from internet, I only get cash money, I don't have any credit card for pay via internet. But still, sometimes if I have good idea I'll share it here. I get some thanks from people here, but sometimes they think I post useless idea, but I still learn and learn. I know maybe some newbies are just trash, but they'll learn step by step here. I still don't know how to separate useless newbie and good newbie. Please, don't kick me from this forum..

I agree that the forum should close to new signups, Could even get rid of a few newcomers. But I do not think a membership fee would be fair.

I couldnt stay if there was a fee.

I think BHW is worth a monthly fee. If I go to a private school to learn and to improve in my job I have to pay, if I go at the gym to have a better body I have to pay. Now this forum is a place where nobs can learn a lot... therefore why not pay for a small monthly fee? Maintaining a forum with thousands of member costs time and money.

Most of the problems, gripes, hatred, etc... of some people here in BHW
especially those with many post in their belts is that the new comers or
noobs don't contribute, ask stupid questions, etc... as if they were not
noobs once in their lives. The noobs are well, noobs. What do you
expect? If you want the noobs to contribute, they should be given
access to stuff in BHW and learn so that someday they will contribute.

If you want to close BHW to the outside world, you can close it for
one to three months and then reopen it. Make people join a waiting
list so that they will be informed when they can join again. The
re-opening will only last for three days and those that don't join
will have to wait another one to three months or more.

In this way, people will value more their membership to BHW since
they waited so long and we know that people tend to value things
that they worked hard or waited long than it is to give them for
free or give it to them outright. They will be more eager to read
and learn the stuffs in BHW, ask more intelligent questions and
eventually share good stuffs in BHW.

I don't think a paid membership should be placed because most
people join a membership site and just don't do anything about
it. But if people waited too long to have access to BHW stuffs,
even if their membership is free, they will gooble up the info and
eventually contribute to BHW.

A quick count of yellow names (meaning non Exec./Jr. VIP and non donor) shows 185 out of 279 (66%, 2/3) people who have never donated voting to close the doors.

I just thought that was... interesting.

My suggestion would be develop better approval process. For example, if You want to register at BHW, You have to contribute something. Example some money making guide. It is reviewed by Jr. VIP or Executive VIP members. If ok, then let them join, if same crap, then not.

Making fee would turn down lot of members as we see by vote.

As well could be easier rules for banning n00bs. Example on first post: How to make money- BAN!

Just my suggestion is not to make it fixed fee forum, as it would turn maybe down some good ideas for members which are not willing to pay, but are not rats or noobs.

I've never paid a dime, though I think I would be willing to pay a one-time fee. Sort of like a cover charge. This site has been a tremendous help to me already.

Not the worst idea. We could go the Demonoid route and open once a month for registration, otherwise invite-only. Still open to read the common areas of the forum, just no downloading or anything without an account.

Im torn at the moment...I think that this is a great forum with alot of great info. Makeing it paid, you would keep out those that want to make a quick buck with the least amount of work possible..which is a good thing, but it may also keep out those that want to put in the work and then contribute back. IMHO those are the people we need in order to keep this forum a viable and informative place. I will contine reading the closing arguments before i make my vote

hi BHW members

i am just a newbie here so i am not the one to comment a lot but i would suggest that a fee would be unfair to a massive number of people

the chief reason for this is that there are many people who just keep wandering and seeing a few threads and ultimately they find something extremely interesting and decide to join this forum for making more money

so if a fee is charged then this would definitely hamper a lot of new members because many people understand the importance of this forum only after being here for a few days and if a fee is charged in the starting itself then they would definitely not be coming here and would not even recommend it to anybody else

so new members would not be coming and joining and we would be left with only the members we have now

hope so people like this suggestion

I like free like the next guy but, what I have seen justifies a fee if necessary to keep the lights on and the heater going.

South of $19 more like $10 sounds fine.

Just as long as some of the $$$$ is put away for a yearly office par-Tahy!

I'd only need like a half dozen or more Guiness stouts and a burger or two.

How are you ever going to stop AM's from viewing this. Even if we have to pay they will pay. If they have to prove themselves they will. Its just part of the game. I say get used to it, and Grow UP. (Sorry not trying to start fights here but come on it sounds like you are pissed because you didn't cover your tracks and got caught).

As far as make this a pay site or not? I'm not sure, I do see alot of people whining and wanting everything given to them with step by step instructions. Try and fail a few times, you will learn pretty quickly what works. I'm not sure if charging a small amount will change that. I do belong to some pay per month sites and they are great. I'm not sure its what BHW is or needs. I think alot of the issues may be taken care of with out going to a pay site. Maybe close off the entire site to search engine spiders and let it grow by word of mouth. I'm sure we have all told people to check out the site. (maybe go invite only and let every one with 10-20 good posts have x amount of invites). As for the good stuff, isnt that what Jr Vip is for. I hate to say this because I'm a noob and want to be a Jr. Vip but make it tougher, maybe not this could be a different issue.

There are alot of other membership sites like DominateIM or BlackHatUniversity or many more that people can join, and I'm guessing most people who join those are still active here. So my vote would be to keep it free.

I can't believe the spread is now 13% between the two opinions. Apparently, a few dollars a month is more than some people think about this site. I would like to see the percentages broken down more. Newbies vs Jr vs Exec. My assumption is the percentage of newbies vs jr and exec is really lopsided.

keep it open to allow noobs to prosper and bring new ideas

close it so less people will use the tactics i am implementing now
