I won an eBay auction for a little laptop, nothing special but a little Compaq dual core 2GHz with 2.5GB RAM, working and all. Just happened to be perusing at the right time and got it for $52. :)

Now the jerk isn't selling it to me, refunded my payment and relisted it.

WTF? Since when have eBay sellers been allowed to do that? I've always thought eBay sales were a "contract" hell, at least an agreement. Sellers can just cancel their sales anytime without notifying the buyer and relist for a higher price (of course he's not letting it go for $50.)

Kinda sucks, got my hopes up. :P

Yeah it sucks happened to me to, it's a win win for ebay as he has to pay fee's twice I suppose, which I guess is why they let it happen.

File a complaint? An auction is a contract - if the seller doesn't set their reserve high enough then that's just tough luck and they're obligated to sell it to you for that price. Of course there's not much remedy you have over a $50 laptop, but you can at least get the satisfaction of getting a black mark against that person's Ebay account.

They are not suppose to do it but I have removed sells because of local buyers.

yeah it sucks! ebay has been losing its good from long.. you had your chance, i prefer going amazon

That's what I thought; I've been told since the dawn of eBay that if you sell/buy on there, it's a contract and you're obligated to hold up your end. I'm not devastated over a $50 laptop, but the principle stands.

What's really funny, there's nothing I can do with eBay. They told me to go fly a kite and buy something else (like cecle said, they get double listing fees if he relists.) But I told the guy anyways that I'm filing a complaint, 5 minutes later EVERYTHING of his is gone. lol.. All of his auctions and everything in his store is gone.

is it too late for all negative feedback? that is some bs, if he didnt wanna sell it cheap he should have had a reserve or higher starting price. Ive always thought the same that it was like a contract, scared of losing my feedback. Ive even ate some sales with shipping and lost money.

Nah, I can still leave feedback, but if he dumps that account it won't matter anyways. (His FB is only 193 and it's mostly tinkertoy nonsense like t-shirts and curling irons.)
