.CO - Next Generation .COM ...or not !?

Stay away from co as you will just be throwing your money away. They are overpriced and at the end of the day ICANN assigned co to the Colombian government. It stands for Colombia and it is a country specific domain. Net domains are recognized all over the world as an international domain co's are not because they are country specific to Colombia.

I thought this was the original use for it, but recently was undone and made available to all. Did I miss something?

Real domainers steer clear of trademarked domains because owning one of these is a good way to get sued.

As for ".co" domains - don't believe the hype.

Take a look at the top ranking websites on Google.

How many ".co" domains do you see there?

I don't think I've ever seen a single one...

Then again, .com domains are far more numerous and far older and established.

However, I do agree with you and winchester.

So .co is good to go? Or get .net/.org?

I'd go with .net/.org first. If those arent available then go for the .co but if you're working with EMD's & your competition doesn't have any EMD's in the top 3 or even top 10 rankings, then you're in the clear with .co's, atleast in MY experience.

.com is far far far better than .co
I have x4 domain .co and they doing bad bad bad with so much of work im doing , but a domain with .com , its sky rocketing with half of work .

I'm not sure really what this thread was about, but I will say one thing. ".co" domains can be very profitable. What are the most common websites you visit? Imagine if you parked youtube.co or put up a CPA offer... I won't say more than that.

Oh, I wasnt comparing .co & .com. ALWAYS go with the .com. My post was referring to .net/.org/.co.

i think .com is the best right now..but i dont know inthe next..

Currently ranking a .co #1 in a very competitive health related niche.

Just an fyi

I thought .co was de-indexed.. someone even had a post about using articles on .co sites as content for your site since they were no longer indexed.. or was that a different extension?
