Yes. They got left behind.

Hi,

I usually don't indulge into arguments but this one I have to chip in.

  • Complete lack of any understanding of the outside world
    • We understand the world the way we see it.
  • Tools so primitive chimpanzees can make them
    • Are you for real? No need to have or think of having complicated things if one can survive and live contently with those primitive tools.
  • Zero medicine besides herbs
    • Did you know most if not all the medicine being manufactured today have their origin from herbs? With evolution of knowledge, men queried themselves on understanding the medicinal values of different herbs in curing/treating/ various diseases..chemists extracted the organic compounds in these herbs, tested them, identified the therapeutic compounds and made the current medicine. Besides, our ancestors lived longer and healthier than us due to living in a pure/less polluted environment. There was no need to further invent medicine. The drive for the medicine world is due to the emergence of dreadful diseases such as cancer, HIV, hepatitis, etc.
  • No electricity
    • Depending on your lifestyle, one can survive without electricity.
  • No proper housing or infrastructure
    • For someone coming from Africa, I was surprised to see wooden houses here in Canada while back home houses are built using stones. Do I have the right to claim the houses are improperly built? No! It's the availability of the building materials, experience of the builders what they have used in previous generations, and most importantly cost...all these govern the way people build their houses.
  • Cave man like grouping
    • Look at our history, we never lived as nuclear families. Extended family was the norm. Togetherness was our lifestyle which in some parts of the world, especially in the developed nations it has died. However, "cave man like grouping" still exists in certain parts of the world and it's been exercised by people, according to you, who are not left behind.
I could go and on too but I will leave it there for now.

PS: Thanks OP for sharing the clip.

Cheers,
ytterium

They didn't live longer then we did, during the neolithic age the average life expectancy was 20 years.

At one time those old cultures didn't even exist. And now we have gotten to the point where people can chose their own culture instead of being brainwashed to follow the culture of the area they are from.

Ofc im not saying you should forcefully change someone's culture because that is just as bad as people that want to make someone stay in the same culture.

There is a good book by Boyd and Richerson called ?Not by Genes Alone: How Culture Transformed Human Evolution?. It's a good read. Basically they argue that culture is influenced by the genetic evolution and the opposite is true.

THIS VIDEO IS MOSTLY FAKE PEOPLE

Yes it does depict a "primitive" people meeting outsiders.

And, yes, such encounters may have been sporadic at the time.

But this isn't the sort of "romantic" "oh my god a white ghost" sort of encounter that is depicted in the video.

And it wasn't a "FIRST CONTACT" event.

More like a "rare contact"

But in 2011, I can choose what foods I want to eat from various cultures, and what music i want to listen to, what kind of clothes I want to wear. The internet has given us freedom.

For all you know they have some high tech underground technology that actually run the world. You have been fooled people.

They didn't live longer then we did, during the neolithic age the average life expectancy was 20 years.

That number is only representative of certain regions only and there were other factors that pulled down the average life expectancy. I know for a fact, based on my history, most of my ancestors passed 100yrs. Currently, I have 4 grandmas all above 90, one is 102. I'm sure if you ask around here for people's history of their ancestors you will might get similar answer.

But in 2011, I can choose what foods I want to eat from various cultures, and what music i want to listen to, what kind of clothes I want to wear. The internet has given us freedom.

That is arguable as that is money-dependent. I might have access to internet but can't afford to dress or eat like certain things. Also, the debate is never-ending on culture is defined...i think culture should be broken down into which context people are referring to i.e. rituals, beliefs, internet, technology, dress code, music etc

Scraper1, that's the stupidest post I've read in a while...

Who are you to decide what is forward and what is behind?
What is refined what is primitive?
These people have a completely different value system, different world view, different sense of perception and discrimination.
Most contacts with so called 'primitive peoples' have shown them to have levels of erudition in plant medicine, spirituality, ecology, for example, which far outstrip our own...

Just keep an open mind, dude, because right now yours is seeming a little bigoted....

  • And a bigger penis then me
I could go on and on but I'm starting to feel like shit about myself so I think I'll go put on some lipstick.

Yes. They got left behind.

Sorry but your an idiot! You are completely detached from nature and your comments prove that so you need not argue.

Yes. They got left behind.

Maybe that's a good thing. I would be willing to wager they live happier lives than those of us constrained by technology, insurance, and mortgage payments.
