Yes. They got left behind.
At one time those old cultures didn't even exist. And now we have gotten to the point where people can chose their own culture instead of being brainwashed to follow the culture of the area they are from.
Ofc im not saying you should forcefully change someone's culture because that is just as bad as people that want to make someone stay in the same culture.
There is a good book by Boyd and Richerson called ?http://www.amazon.com/Not-Genes-Alone-Transformed-Evolution/dp/0226712125/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1299186488&sr=1-1?. It's a good read. Basically they argue that culture is influenced by the genetic evolution and the opposite is true.

They didn't live longer then we did, during the neolithic age the average life expectancy was 20 years.
But in 2011, I can choose what foods I want to eat from various cultures,and what music i want to listen to, what kind of clothes I want to wear. The internet has given us freedom.
