While ending up on a spam list is always a possibility when posting to websites in an automated fashion it isn't that common. It is possible that the database had a lock when it was running which can result in multiple posts to the same blogs even with unique domains checked that is why an update or two back I added a check to ensure there is sufficient access to the database before proceeding.
If you are posting money sites directly and they are in the same niche it is always good practice to give them very different keywords so there is little cross over between the domains. Custom comments are also a great way to prevent being flagged as a spammer as they can be made more legible and relevant to the topic.
As you said though the only real guaranteed way to stay off these lists is to not post the money site directly but I will carry on posting a mix of tier webpages and main sites as it works for me.
Keeping the app updated is a good way to ensure there are less potential for unexpected functionality, it should be easier now as I have added a periodic check for updates so whenever one is released it will be visible from within the app (installed version only right now).
