So the title says it all. We purchased 200 Google + votes and divided the +1 to 5 separate deeplinks. The pluses showed up throughout 3-5 days and after two weeks, they were gone and the domain lost PR5 to PR4. So I am guessing a google penalty.

So just to let you guys know: be careful when you purchase +1s.

Any wisdom on how to get the PR back? Keep purchasing new +1s (I doubt it but...)

There was a recent PR update so that may be coincidence. As for the google + I really could not say.

I have heard of people buying +'s and getting them taken away... Who knows where google spies are trolling.

Don't buy +! They are so easy to manipulate, that it would be silly for Google to rely on them. Trust me, they are worthless.

Imagine a botnet of ten thousand computers clicking + all the time for a site. Is it logical that the site should rank higher?

Of course not. Traditional linking algorithm stands strong and will for the foreseeable future.

Plus ones are effective if you use them properly.

I would think that any kind of "all of a sudden" backlinks, likes +1s etc would not be a good thing for a site.

You mentioned you bought 200 +1 and divided them to 5 separate domains, meaning you got 40 +1 per domains and it took 3-5 days for the +1 to be delivered, right?
Meaning you got around 10 +1 per domain per day - and I think this is a lot. Google +1 still has a very low rate, you get 1+ form a 1000 or more visitors.
To get 10 +1's a day you'd have to have anywhere between 5000 and 150000 visitors a day. Also you need to make it look more natural without just stopping them all together one day. The same you would as if you were in the middle of regular link building campaign

I doubt pagerank has anything to do with Google+1. Maybe your site lost some backlinks over this update then lost pagerank.

Probably completely unrelated. Getting Google +1 doesn't get you page rank to begin with. Do a google search for "page rank" and see how it's calculated.

You do know that google checks the
IP of those that do +1 right? At least you need separate IP's to do +1 so it's not as easy to manipulate as you think...

Yeah i think it was a google update :'( today i lost awesome rankings. I was ranked as the last website on the first page for the keyword "minecraft" (without quotes). Plus i lost tons of other good spots for different keywords related to minecraft.

What you say is something like:

I took my son to the school and boss fired me.

Google +'s have nothing to do with PR. PR is calculated by backlinks, nothing else, nothing more.
