I am leaving the office for a 3PM visit to a restaurant to sell them a mobile website. I have a demo ready, have scoped out the place, it's current website, and the owner. I will post the results. Any questions?

I was successful, have a signed contract sitting on my desk. Offer is still open to anyone who wants selling help.

Just came across your post, good work taking action, ive been doing mobile for over a year now, great money in it and it as im sure u know, it is the future.

What are you pricing your sites at? Are you custom coding them, themeforest, online mobile site buider??

There is so many avenues you can take once you get your first few clients. Good luck and i look forward to hearing about how it went,

Sounds Interesting.

How much are you charging?

I am very interested in selling websites offline to prospective clients.
i will PM soon enough with what info im interested in
or maybe you could add some ideas for us all

hour and half later signed contract, love it well done mate. My question is the signed contract...does that mean you got them on a monthly? reason asking is because I am trying to offer them as a monthly payment instead of a one off, but they dont see why they should pay monthly for it as part of 'hosting' is concerned they already pay it through there web provider. How do you get around this? once again congrats

I price the sites between $299-$499 depending on the size of the business, complexity, and how thirsty the business owner is. If I sense I can get away with the monthly fee, I try to charge between $25-$35. Some business owners just won't have it, etc and so I don't push hard on it.

I am using a proprietary mobile website builder that does the payment to us and can do the monthly subscription billing as well. What about you?

Thank you for you support...This contract was just for a mobile website, and I lowered the price actually for him to $299 because I can tell he wants a lot of other services. He is a Michelin starred chef and has food trucks and other restaurants and wants SMS and the whole nine yards. When I smell a sale like that, I will do everything I can to lower the friction on the mobile website sale just to open up a business relationship with him. The margins on SMS are way higher and recur monthly so that is my main goal here.

I own my own SMS platform and mobile website platform and so I have a lot of variability in marketing it. For the mobile websites, I actually sell it as a "subscription" instead of "hosting" and explain that we are constantly updating it. I tell them about our roadmap and that we have geoloaction in the pipeline and a bunch of other features, so that they will want to be included in the upgrades. I tell them I can sell them a 1-off and put it on their sever, but they will not have access to those advanced features or the ability to have us update their page when needed.

On top of that though, I market the subscription as including updates for the coupon (expiration dates and offer), hours, specials etc. Most businesses never ask and the ones that do, just shoot me an email and I have myself or a staff take care of it within the hour. I also offer 24/7 phone support to a 1-888 number but get very few calls and when I do they are always during normal working hours, but the 24/7 gives them piece of mind. Don't sell the actual service you are providing, sell the benefits.

Just picked up the payment from the restaurant and a dinner. I had him throw in a couple of meals a week as part of the discount I gave him. I like to put my money where my mouth is, and since I already ate the food, here's the real dough:
$300 mobile website
$100 texting first month
$50 set up/printing fees

Aww! the good old "sell the sizzle, not the steak" method

Thanks,
You Know I had a Problem in developing Selling my Mobile website but you have just given me a Brand new IDEA to it.
I wanted to offer SMS but I did not have the capital to Print cards, So I am going to do it your way. Charge them for printing the Cards and thats all.
Thanks a lot

The pricing model all depends on the business. Im targeting 2 different verticals:
1. restaurants- i like to incorporate barters into my deals, so i basically eat for free every day of the month, and its great when closing bigger deals, when you can take a client to lunch, and the restaurant knows you, likes you and can even help you close the deal.
I charge between $399-$699 for sites and $199-$399 for SMS

2. service professionals (both financial and health). These niches can spend a lot more on services and usually offer great referrals. (Im working on closing a huge deal with a large financial services firm, which basically includes SMS, sites, and consulting for each of their agents.)
I charge from $699 and up for sites and similar price as restuarants for SMS.

I think $699 is a little steep for a mobile website, but if you can get away with it, all the power to you. The most I really have done is around $500 maybe $599 depending on the complexity. The ones I've done for higher prices are for a restaurant with multiple branches and different menu's.

how do you promote these mobile sites so that the biz owners have someone to text their ads to, or do they have to handle that on their own, and if so, do you tell them how?
