Now I'm sure there was a 13 October Panda update, because since 14 October my PR4 MNS ranking for 3 keywords KW1:#1, KW2:#3, KW3:#10, became KW1:#3, KW2:#10, KW3: not in Top 100.
My conclusion according to my experience that Panda 13th October was against MNS with very small content (1 article).

I was hit by this update, for the first time. Rankings kept jumping up and down, but overall for the worse (mostly old rankings have dropped by 1x or more). Did some major high PR blog commenting just before the update and it hasn't made much difference to old rankings. New pages however ranked quite fast in just a week's time.

I see no websites moving unless it's a new site with new backlinks which is getting reevaluated up.
The rest are either moving down or staying the same across the board.

I've been holding steady at about ~75% of my original traffic, up from 60% the first day of the update. I'm still linking as usual.
I'm seeing this as a gift though. I've relied too heavily on Google traffic for too long. I knew I shouldn't but I did it anyway because I knew how to make money that way. This week I've been playing with Yahoo Answers and toying with a few twitter methods. Although my losses weren't as severe as some, a 25-30% pay cut still hurts. Lesson learned. I won't be relying on one company for all my income anymore.

I was thinking about the following with this Panda update as of 28 September.
How does Google know or when it will release your traffic again? What are the signals that makes it do that? I was thinking that the existing traffic should let us know which pages we have to improve. We need to improve first those that get traffic and give Google signals we will get better so to further release more traffic. I mean, it get signals based on traffic, bounce rate and user satisfaction, right?

SERPs in my niches are still locked, or worse, reverting to the results from 2 months ago (sites that have been moved down for over a month are now regaining their old spots, for no real reason)
Whatever google is doing, it's not benefiting search accuracy... and practically impossible to rank anything, because nothing will move presently.
Only small niches are doing anything, at all, SERP-wise. This is pretty silly.

I agree with you 100%. It's bad to put all the eggs in one basket. This has also been a gift to me because it forced me to stop relying so heavily on Google. I learned my lesson too. No more will I rely on one company.
The problem is that Google is just about the only basket WORTH pursuing thnese days, and has no indications of decreasing their baskets "volume", only azquiring other assets/patents and becoming EVEN LARGER.
I diversify as much as possible, but at some point you really can't kid yourself. Google and Youtube are the main traffic drivers of the entire Internet at this point, with Youtube becoming "smarter" and harder to master with each passing month as they improve that algo too. Facebook/Twitter are not to be forgotten, but in my opinion and experiences can be VERY difficult to actually build a business/brand out of relying on this type of social traffic. It is great to have all the social signals in place, but making a realistic income of $xxx per day JUST from social in a typical microniche is like climbing through quicksand...good luck ya'll.
Building a list is the best thing you can do, but what is the best/most possible way to build a relevant list of people interested in a niche?...collecting their information when they arrive at your site via relevant longtails, etc.
My issue right now for one property is that while my main KW's still rank, just about every longtail page where I ranked on page one dropped to around page 3...meaning I've lost around 80% total organic traffic...which is RIDICULOUS. It wouldn't be ridiculous if those longtail SERPs now looked cleaned up and produced highly relevant/much better results than the likes of my site.
Instead of "better" websites replacing me for my longtails, I see nothing but brands, and garbage sites (parked domains, many link out to 404s direct, some have literally spintax on the page, about 100 words, christ I am seeing 5-word hyphenated EMDs with MY content ranking in some of these longtails now LOL.

Same here. I've been throwing hundreds of high quality backlinks at my main site (highly competitive) and nothing seems to be happening. 0 movement. Most of my backlinks are contextual, web 2.0 articles blasted with scarapebox and Xrummer and I'm also doing high PR blog commenting. I don't know if I should continue link-building or stop until things start moving again. Any thoughts?

Quite frankly all personal issues with Panda aside I think google have F* Up with Panda. It really is a mess and I think they know it. My BH sites are doing slightly better some relevant white hat sites are gone. My authority sites are a bit better or about the same. Overall I am actually doing better. What I dont like is that I feel I have wasted my time with those WH sites I should have just gone BH with my fringe sites and put most of my WH efforts into my authority sites. Panda is one crazy creature!

I bought 2 aged domains in one of my niches and decided I'm going to throw my entire lot of ZP templates at them (85 web 2.0 templates)... + add a ton of content and have them all link back (both in the blog roll and through the cart) to my main site.
I wanna see what's going on ... so I think 5000-7000 web 2.0s + pyramids on top of that will give me my answer........ if little happens I will simply assume that google has temporarily locked down rankings for whatever reason.
Panda was quite good in my opinion, it got rid of a lot of lazy SEOing and riff raff out of the top spots.... it def cleaned up results.
It also had a lot of unintended consequences which google has "slowly" been hammering out.
Whatever they have done this time appears to be a huge mistake though. If they have decided to "lock" competitive niches' results (or make it nigh on impossible to rank), I think its the beginning of the end for google's relevancy.
Two factors, though perhaps most searchers only know of them indirectly, have made google what it is:
1) Extremely aggressive crawlers find almost all links on the web
2) Fast, relevant updates

Eh sure, but I'd still argue the quality of links + quality of your website is far more important and relevant than quantity.
This wasn't the case pre-panda.
Panda has its own issues, that in my opinion are not as bad as the 1 page ad farms that were everywhere pre-panda
