*********happy diwali **********

I wont have my fun being snatched away. Child labour is a thing of the past. There is ZERO child labour today in Sivakasi, the cracker manufacturing hub of india.

If you want to reduce pollution, stop using cars and bikes unnecessarily. Cycle as much as you can or use the public transport. Sleep early and save electricity which in turn reduces pollution. Do you realize how much pollution our daily lifestyle causes? We forget all of that and instead target a super-fun festival such as Diwali. Sorry friend, but I won't subscribe to that....and HAPPY DIWALI! :)

Just everyone's own perspective. If your sense permits that, then go ahead.

And regarding child labor, a simple search on Google News revealed-

"There have been sporadic raids, but nothing systematic as such. Child labour is still widespread in these areas," said Yogita Verma, director, Child Rights and You.

Sorry, I can't let anyone just pass by ignoring the reality and saying me that child labor is thing of past (when I can see proof that it is still existing). Hook me up with any proof on what you claimed and I will take back my statements. And I don't want to start a long debate here on this festival. People can see the things themselves. So just Happy Diwali. ;)

By burning crakers there will not be mosqutoes for 15 days approximatly by my personal experiance. HAPPY DEEPAVALI.

Happy Diwali Guys !! Wish you guys make millions more by the next Diwali :)

Happy Diwali to all BHW Indians!!

** Well IF child labor is involved in making crackers, then I will take the +ve scenario of this. In a country like India where unemployment is real high becoz of high population and fewer jobs, at least those children are definitely getting something to eat and live for & side by side harnessing themselves so that they can build up something for them for future becoz of their past learning. I would definitely won?t snatch their hard work from them!!

Just use common sense, I mean those children will definitely work for sure and if we won?t buy that stuff, the producers wont get paid for it and indirectly it will effect to those children working for them. You can?t eliminate child labor by not buying those crackers. If those children would not be pushed into this, they would be pushed into something else and that you guys know what!! So this is much better option for them I guess!!

Happy Diwali Mates :) Didn't knew BHW had so many Indians... feeling like part of a family now !

Yoh Man i also didn't expected so many indians staring at BHW.
I wonder if all indians do strike not to surf BHW,then what will happen. :p

Anyways As above member advised please not to buy cracker. If yes then in very less quantity, It is not a major problem of pollution but you should donate to poor.Hva e you ever thought of poor in enjoying your life.Poors are die'ing and you are enjoying .(sry it become rhyming plz not laugh).
YOu dont know saving like 3000Rs or 5000Rs ,for poor's it is there monthly food expense..
Helping Poor's is all about life. You can't remain happy if you don't help poor.
Ek baar karke dekho madad kisi gareeb you will feel like you are in heaven,
Blessing and curse given by any Poor will never go waste...

Anyways
I have decided that i will not burn any cracker this Diwali.Maybe i can purchase some phuljhadi for my Mom.
And lastly
Happy Diwali.

yaar, yhy cant I burst crackers and help the poor as well? Why are they opposites?

I don't know why everyone is targeting Diwali and forgetting all the other nonsense in society. We should stop going to cinemas and shopping malls, watching cricket matches all day, buying over-priced 'branded' clothes, stop unnecessary travel in useless luxury cars and so on and on and on and on and donate the money to the poor? I spend hardly 1500 bucks on crackers while people spend millions on luxury cars and palatial homes. Why is crackers suddenly anti-poor?

Diwali is enormous fun guys! Please don't spoil the spirit :) It's way better than those lifeless shopping malls that burn precious tons of precious electricity every hour.

Just use common sense, I mean those children will definitely work for sure and if we won't buy that stuff, the producers wont get paid for it and indirectly it will effect to those children working for them. Well said, buddy. Plus, there are a lot more poor adults working in the business than children. All these adults are able to feed their children and send them to school thanks to the firecrackers business. If you stop buying crackers you'll probably be hurting little kids than helping.
