Anyone get hit hard yesterday in Google?

i can tell that my site jump from 5 place on first page to 1 place and i love it, but my content is unique :)

what kind of linkbuilding did you guys do whose ranking dropped?

Panda assesses onpage factors. Link building has nothing to do with Panda that I am aware of and I've seen some sites with very high quality backlink profiles get hammered. Look at it this way... Panda is the final routine run on ranks, which overrides all other SEO signals.

When people say "I have uniqe content". What does that mean? My copywriter writes for big magazines (Vouge, elle etc). It def costs me a lot but the ROI is insane. I think that those getting hit by the panda only pay like $3 per article. Of course you are going to get hit. Google notice patterns. You have to understand that the internet does not need your crappy articles. You need to add some VALUE.

That's all...

Yeah I agree with you. Articles for 5$ are not the content panda wants. It has no unique idea in it or something of value. It is just rehashed crap. You will have the same success by simply copying some random articles and building links. Good content is content with some original new idea in it.

In general, my sites with 100% unique quality content on aged domains are doing better (and I always thought they should have been doing better). My sites with auto generated content (but aged) are doing the same, new sites with auto generated content are doing a little worse ... they weren't doing that great to begin with so they didn't have far to fall.

I have content on 15 year old authority domain that have tripled in traffic ... it's given me some ideas of how to proceed by duplicating what I did there (i.e. put all my focus on my oldest websites with great content) ... and let my medium to new aged sites just sit and age a while.

Don't be selfish dude. Allow others to make some money too! :p

I think Google is working on some new updates, and we will see something worst than Panda, soon...
Cause a lot of Trash are ranking on Top, but the Real Web Sites are KILLED ... i cant understand how long this will be...

Unique content: Knowing enough about any particular subject and writing about it in your own words. Google doesn't care if it was written by a magazine writer, it's not a human, lol.

You are naive if you really believe you didn't get hit because of your awesome "unique content". You got lucky. Hundreds, if not thousands, myself included had unique content as well and still got hit.

My sites survived every Panda update until this one.

The reality is this:

Good sites went up
Bad sites went up

and vice verse... so this update had no specific target. No one knows Google's main intention with this update. Don't listen to every word Google tells you. ;)

Got fucked by Panda for the 2nd time in 30 days.

For those with sites that moved up, do you notice any patterns?

I'm dealing with many sites that have differences, but for the most part deal with the same ecommerce product sales ...

Biggest difference I see is domains that were authority to begin with (aged with unique content) are getting a lot more traffic. I'm seeing myself shoot up into the top 5 on 3k/mo exact keywords I wasn't even trying to promote (15 year old site) and top 5 on 3k/mo exact keywords that I WAS trying to promote but wasn't getting anywhere before (on a 4 year old site). I'm getting 3x traffic on the 15 year old and 20% more traffic on the 4 year old.

Here's the pattern for sites going down....

One adsense unit ok (does not matter with placement)
One adsense unit + one amazon link -5 positions (amazon link cloaked, blocked by robots.txt and nofollowed)
One adsense unit + one amazon + one aweber subscribe form: -13 positions (amazon link cloaked, nofollowed, and blocked by robots.txt)

All sites have unique content, some aged 5+ years. Don't believe that bullshit Google is spoon feeding everyone. Google is going after affiliate marketers. It's close to the main holiday shopping season so it's time for them to corner the market in this depressed economy. Sure some non-affiliate sites got hammered too. But nailing those sites to the wall is needed as a smokescreen.

And the devil claims to do no evil

Some of my sites with unique articles that I paid $2 for are doing just fine, thank you! It only matters if your site gets human reviewed - then you can expect to get 50-100 position penalty.

Yup! 8 of my sites dropped really hard, 6 of these were micro niche websites.

But I also saw huge improvement on a 3 days old website where I was trying a new technique, so that's kinda awesome :)

Nope, no pattern at all, both the bad and the good sites have suffered as well gained. Big brands have moved up as well. The only one constant winner are Youtube videos regardless of what is happening to sites.

Yep, my money site which has been on page 1 for its main search term for almost a year now went from #5 on page one to page 3.

Well my main money site is still at #1 on G, yahoo and bing but my CTR dropped from 9% to 3% and now I'm only making 1/2 of my normal income. I also have been building profile links to some of my new sites and absolutely no positive results from these profile links. My link building pattern is consistent.
