You should try - it all depends on keyword difficulty.

This is really safe for money sites, and large projects - Google will love you as long as backlinks are coming in. We do not offer one time blasts, but constant link building - and Google support this.
Its really good for smaller project too, as you can change url/keywords every week, so its really simple to get quality backlinks to multiple, smaller sites.

1) We are testing now 2 different patterns for Link Pyramid - 1st is when we use 150+ web 2.0 properties chaotically connected to each other and creating huge pyramid - 2nd is where we create pyramid from web 2.0 properties and bookmarks, and forum profiles set in tiers (Senuke pyramid).
As said above - we are constantly testing best options, so how Link Pyramid looks can change every so.

2) We do not. We grab whole bunch of articles off directories, and spin them
Writing 1-5 articles a week would be not enough to get diversity, and would rise the price significantly (as we work weekly - all articles should be created in just 1 week to have time for submissions and quality control).

As of now we do not consider using Scrapebox or Xrumer - for now we stay away from them.
